This shawl was inspired by a lace motif in Sophia Caulfeild�s Dictionary of Needlework, first published in 1882. The top-down construction allows the design to flow downward, giving the feeling of feathers dripping from a stick frame, just as in Greek mythology, Icarus� feathers melted from their frame as he came too close to the sun.

This shawl is large, making it wonderful to wrap up in for a stroll in the garden, or an elegant evening out.

Yarn Requirements: 4 oz of Laceweight
Suggested Needles: 3.25 mm (US 3) 24" circular needle.
Gauge: 21 sts & 38 rows per 4� in stockinette after blocking.
Finished Size: 72� across the top, and 36� from neck to point.
Techniques Used: This pattern uses the following techniques: knit, purl, k2tog, p2tog, yo, place marker, slip1 stitch, ssk, yo4, psso, k1f&b.
