DSC00143.JPGCheck these out. These arrived in the mail for me from a really sweet person that I have never even met. Is that cool, or what? Abigail sent these as a thank you to me for a couple of favors that I had done for her in the past (which were really nothing. Certainly not worth a whole pair of socks! But I’m not giving them back.) I love these and they fit me like a glove. I’m still trying to figure out how she knew my shoe size. These are knit with Scottish Highlands from Socks That Rock. I only have 2 pairs of socks knit for me by someone else, so I will absolutely treasure these. Abigail, you are awesome!

Did you see the new colors of Lorna’s Laces that I put up on the website? They’re gorgeous! I have also added several colors of Fleece Artist (but waiting on about 15 more colors to arrive in the second and third boxes of the shipment. I think they’re on their way to Montana. Hopefully they’ll find their way back to Missouri soon.) Next week, I’ll be adding more Yarn Pirate, including another exclusive Loopy Ewe colorway that is bound to be my favorite. Here is a hint: remember when I talked about how much I love the Vera Bradley Java Blue fabric? Stay tuned. :-)

It’s Friday – time for a recipe. These Cornbread Rolls have been a family favorite for several years. I love them because I can pop them in the bread machine – but they’re also easy to make without the machine.

DSC00096.JPGCornbread Rolls

1 beaten egg plus water to = 1 cup
1/3 cup honey
3 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
2 Tbs. dry milk
1 tsp. salt
3 Tbs. butter
1 pck. yeast (2 1/4 tsp.)

Put ingredients into breadmaker in order given. Let it cycle through the first rise cycle. Remove dough and form into 16 rolls. Place on greased cookie sheet. Let rise for 1 1/2 hours.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. (Can also be made as bread in the breadmaker.)

DSC00141.JPGComing up on Monday – the December Blog contest. Check back!

I’m working on some Christmas gifts this weekend. Must finish the cashmere socks and the mittens in Lorna’s Laces. Or maybe I’ll have to start some new socks. There is yarn calling to me from the stash. In the meantime, I’m off for one of these. It’s probably not a good thing when the regular workers at Starbucks have your coffee going (in the size you like, and the flavor you like, with your name on the cup) by the time you walk from the front door to the counter. Probably not a good thing at all.

  1. I say keep on with the Peppermint Mochas … coffee is minor as vices go so enjoy! BTW they ususally take peppermint mocha off the menu board after the holidays. However you can still get it … at least here you can. Just ask for a shot of pmint.

Hey Sheri, got sock number 1 of Roasted Chilis nearly done last night… on the ribbing now. Sock #2 tonight! hehe

  2. So nice to know another Vera Bradley lover! Do you know how hard it is to stop buying Vera in order to experience stash enhancement? All my Vera bags are stuffed with-wait for it-YARN!
Did you seem them in the pictures I sent? Yup!
Enjoy your Starbucks, Sherri. Can’t wait until the YP is up on your site. I shall then become a Loopy Groupie for sure.

  3. Any word on the Yarntini??? I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas for that stuff!

Have you tried the peppermint WHITE chocolate mocha? That’s my favorite. Yummy.

  4. The cornbread rolls look delish, but how would one do it without a bread machine? Would the dough hook on my kitchenaid work?

I completly understand about the peppermint mocha sbucks addiction. Another yummy solution? Land o Lakes is making a peppermint mocha flavored half n half this year. I’ve been adding it to my coffee at home almost daily… it’s not the same, but it’s saving me money!

  5. Java Blue……you’re killing me! I am not a huge Vera fan….but the Java is toooooo die for…….

And thanks…for hooking me on those Peppermint Mocha’s….love ya…….

Sign of the times: Me the Catholic school gir…Sunday morning – heading out to finish up some shopping…..A Sista (as in Nun – full habit) driving her Black Brand New SUV…drinkin a Starbucks and TALKIN on her cell….gotta love it…..

BTW does everyone know they sell Snowman Poop!

  6. You know the Peppermint Mocha addiction is bad enough, but every time I read your blog it makes me want to get another one. Dear hubby has been properly informed about how to get ahold of you for Christmas shopping…I, however, have huge doubts he would find it thrilling to buy me a sock knitting bag for $120. when he knows I already have a zillion bags. That may have to be a gift to myself:)
I am looking forward to having my knitting pals over for a Christmas knitting night. we have been exchaning secret knitter gifts and next Thursday my pal will be showered with Loopy goodies:) Including the mini sock that I knit…so I have a feeling my whole group will become Loopy groupies!

  7. Hi Sheri,

Would the Rainforest colorway of Fleece Artist happen to be in that box you’re waiting on? I’m getting ready to place an order, but I’ll wait if that color is coming in soon.

    Thanks!

  8. Hi Andrea – you can make the cornbread rolls without the machine just by mixing and kneading it yourself. (I don’t have a Kitchenaid, but I’m sure the dough hook would work great). After mixing and kneading, you just put it in a bowl, cover with a towel, place in a warm spot and let rise. After this first rise, the directions are the same. They’re wonderful!

  9. Yeah, the barrista having your drink ready is really bad ;) I walked in the store last night for the second time in an hour to pick up something for my chief and they started steaming soy milk for me!!! Same thing happened today when I went in to arrange a pickup for Sunday morning. But the SM told me to bring in a thermos Sunday and she was going to fix my chief a special drink for Sunday.

I am waiting to hear when the Pirate’s shipment arrives!!! You know which color I want….

  10. I walk with my head hung low b/c the Starbucks drive thru people are shocked when I order something different! How do they know my voice??? Scary . . . Yes, I have a problem as well!

Love the cornbread recipe, being a Southern Girl by birth, I miss good cornbread. I have to try that out this weekend! My MIL from Georgia will be here. I’ll impress her!!!

  11. I’m so glad that the socks are a blessing to you. A gift given for outstanding customer service! You are a 5 star yarn store:D

P.S. A little birdie told me your sock size. Think about that and something might ring a bell…..hehehehehe

  12. Sounds like the cofree shop across the street from my office – 1 small decaf vanilla latte and a biscotti to go are always waiting for me!
