Buried in Boxes and Blogless

DSC00563.JPGWell here it is Monday evening, and still no blog for the day. Where has the day gone? Well, here is a bit of what kept me busy and blogless today: Boxes coming in and boxes going out. This is pretty much the way it is around here. The yarns come in, and the yarns go out. It’s a good thing. (You know, they look a lot nicer going out, don’t they?) Just an FYI for you – I’m heading out of town on Thursday (I’ll tell you about it in Wednesday’s post) so we’re not putting any more new yarns up on the website until next Monday evening. That way, WH and Knitting Daughter will have just manageable amounts of orders to get out while I’m gone. But OH MY do I ever have great stuff to put up next week and in the weeks to DSC00549.JPGcome. Things are really exciting around here! I have more Apple Laine that arrived today, and our newest indie dyer (Perchance to Knit) shipped our order today. Zen String shipped to us last week but it hasn’t arrived yet, and more Panda Cotton shipped today. We also have more Yarn Pirate, more All Things Heather, Sweet Georgia, 4 brand new lines, and 2 new accessories expected in any day. Plus more Loopy, Louise and Bart stitchmarkers arrived today. And just wait till I tell you about the new stitchmarkers Katie’s going to do for us, and the other cute ones she’s doing. Picture on Wednesday. But remember – I’m saving all of this to put up next Monday night …. or Tuesday. We’ll see how much I can get done on my first day back from my long weekend off. You will definitely want to check in. Consider yourself warned…..

Today IS the day that I announce the winner of the February Blog Contest and the person who gets the monthly Loopy Loot! Your knitting tips were amazing – what a treasure trove of ideas. Thank you so much for sharing them. I loved reading through every one of them and I know others did as well. We had 146 entries and I used the random number generator to pick a winner. The winner is: Tracey! Tracey, email me your address (sheriATtheloopyeweDOTcom) and I’ll get your fun prize out to you.

That’s all for now – back to unpacking boxes of new stuff, waiting for their debut. Hugs to you all.

  1. Sheri, You sure know how to tease a person and then keep them in suspense. I can’t wait for next week to get here and order Apple Laine – hopefully Red Delicious and something from Perchance to Knit. More accessories? Can’t wait for that either. The boxes do look neat going out. :)

  2. Rats – I see I already have competition for the Red Delicious from Kristi, lol!! I can tell I am going to be refreshing the site a LOT!! And my how wonderful all those outgoing boxes looked!!

  3. Hi Sheri,

I am new to the Loopy Ewe and new to your blog and I really like it. I am so glad to have come here and seen that you have indeed got yarn to put up on the site. I went to go for a little shopping spree and seen that everything was sold out :( Other stashers beat me to it *giggle* so I am REALLY excited to see the new yarns and place a first time order. Is there a particular day that is better than others in a week to purchase yarns?

Love your blog, it is really fun!

  4. My first thought was “OH NO!!!” no crack, er, yarn this week!!! But, a week off will do my credit card good and I need to knit, knit, knit.

runs off to fan Miss Violet with a skein of Yarn Pirate…

  5. Very exciting around your house these days Sheri! I hope you are going someplace sunny for your long weekend.

I will probably miss the Loopy, Louise and Bart stitch markers AGAIN (3rd time) as I have to work out of town next week and will be quite busy during the day Monday. Dang! Ah well, all the sweeter when I finally do get them.

Anxious to see what FOUR new lines you have coming in. Well, 3 I guess as we know one is Perchance to Knit. Hey there Miss Perchance to Knit I liked your ‘Denim Rainbow’ , ‘Nasturtiums’ and ‘Mexicali Peppers’ on etsy… AND I know right where Grayling is. It’ll be fun to see what you created for The Loopy Ewe-rs. :>)

  6. I am so glad that you are getting more yarns in. I can’t wait to see what comes in from Apple Laine yarns. I have heard nothing but great things about them.

  7. Wow- I clicked the winner link- and it’s me! Awesome! I already sent my snail mail addy;) Thnx so much in advance- family has been sick- this will help my personal {“recovery” ;)

    ts

  8. Enjoy your holiday! You’re going to need to be well rested when you put up those new orders!

Now I’ve got to find more places to store some yarn before next week.

  9. Make it late on Monday since I have to work all day!! Does your mailman love you or hate you from the pile of boxes on your porch?

  10. I am in awe of your boxes. I wish yarn would come to my house like that! Amazing! I know what I’ll be dreaming about tonight.

After seeing your piles of incoming and outgoing mail, I can only imagine what moving your shipping room must have been like. What an accomplishment! I hope the new space works out very well for you!

Enjoy your weekend – I hope it’s a leisurely one!

I’ve got to go now before the thought of all that glorious yarn makes me to giggly….I am such a yarn geek.

  11. Jen – explain to your husband that yarn adds sound buffering and insulation value to your home (up to R-35) – and may actually pay for itself in just one heating season. He’ll understand that this requires proper layering and distribution across the entire house. And like gold, the price of yarn fluctuates with market cycles , seasonal demands and international events. By committing to a steady investment plan, you are protecting yourself from impulsive buying during the frenzy of market peaks.

He’ll either admire your wisdom, or by sentence #2 he will be nodding with approval and reaching for the remote.

  12. So many choices and only 2 eyes! It will be hard to view all the beautiful yarn and get some before it’s all gone. It will be like a Black Friday shopping day:-)

  13. Aww – not only does Wonder Husband support my Loopy Ewe business, but he also gives advice on insulating with yarn and justifying more yarn purchases to YOUR husbands. What a guy. Thanks, Honey. :-) (Jen – sounds like a good plan, eh?)

  14. I’ll be in the hunt for some Zen String Lotus Toes – any Bart & Louise coming? And any “fun stuff” that may still be available. I wish one of those boxes on your porch was cominin’ my way!

  15. More yarn on Monday – YEAH!!! I hope there’s some left when i get back from my long weekend away! I hope too that I won enough in AC to purchase some new stash :-)

  16. Oh, my…am I going to have to show up on your doorstep on Monday to get some of the new, fabulous yarn? =D Nah, I’ll wait ’til Tuesday–it’ll control my spending if most of it’s gone.

When you’ve put up all the yarn on the shelves it’s actually going to stay full for a couple days until you put it on the website. That would be quite a sight to see.

  17. Well, you already know what I want from the new stuff. But I need a few days to try and finish a sock or two. Enjoy your little trip. And BTW, look for brown to be there today. I am able to see into the future.

  18. There sure are a whole lt of boxes going both ways: coming in and going out!

I don’t think I could ever work in a yarn store (sigh). Not because I don’t want to, but because I would end up spending my whole paycheck on yarn, needles & other knitting accessories. It would be a lot of fun, though! :-)

    I love your yarns, etc!

  19. hi sheri. i’m just so glad to see you were late yesterday with a blog, due to business. i was concerned that something happened to someone or you were sick. even mentioned it to my co-worker today and told her i had to check today and see what was going on. alas, i told my grandson yesterday, when i got another nice package from you, that i need to go on a yarn diet. he sits by me now and as i read about all the yummy yarns you are going to put up next week, he says, remember you are on a yarn diet!! he is right too. have a great trip and i’ll be looking even if i am on a diet. ( :

  20. I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing and fun long weekend away! Will look forward to next week’s update…can’t wait to use my gift certificate…I think you probably know what I’m eyeing… : )

  21. Hi Sheri – Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed visiting your shop yesterday and I can’t wait to come back – your yarn is calling me!! I’m knitting with the Fleece Artist Pinata right now and it is absolutely gorgeous. I just can’t seem to knit fast enough.
