Been doing anything I can to avoid more marking! Though I fear I must put an end to that because I really do need to hand it in tomorrow
With any luck I’ll be able to add knitting on my chevron scarf if I finish quickly enough!

Things I am doing: “Live” blogging with the Sox Knitters while watching Game 1 of the World Series – Let’s Go Red Sox!!!!!!
Things I’m looking forward to doing tomorrow: I wish I could say sleeping in, but, alas, I must earn a living to support my yarn habit, among other things, lol. So, I will say going to the Farmer’s Market tomorrow afternoon – its always a nice afternoon break some of my work friends and I do on Thursday afternoons…

Been knitting and napping ( haven’t been feeling well) and watching the intermittent but much needed rain…supposed to get more tomorrow and the next. Given all the restrictions on water use here, rain is a welcome sight! Got my Loopy fix in the mail today and am awaiting another to arrive shortly!! Tomorrow, maybe, I will get to the laundry and start yet another pair of socks!!

I have been knitting.
Driving the kids all over everywhere. All 3 of them had somewhere to be at the same time, that is always fun.
I made a yummy pot roast for dinner
I haven’t had a latte either
I haven’t done the houswork that really needs to be done and the mountain of laundry has been neglected too.
Brownies with peanut butter frosing sound yummy. The boy child is allergic to all nuts, so that is something I miss… I did sneak a white chocolate reeces cup or two or three today. ( OK it was 3)

When I come out of my three-floors-underground office, I’ve been watching it snow, AGAIN. Otherwise, I’m trying to think of a good sock pattern (relatively easy, too) for my Interlacement Tiny Toes in Telemark (215) for a good friend who needs cheering up. She said months ago she wanted socks, “crazy socks,” so I bought the yarn for her, and now seems to be the time to knit it up, I just can’t decide what pattern to do!
And now ti’s time to go home! =)

I’ve been at home with two sick children which sounds unpleasant but means more knitting time for me! I’m close to finishing my alpaca sweater. I would have been done but I decided to add a fair isle yoke so the colourwork is taking me longer. I’ve also been admiring the Loopy Ewe package the postman brought me today, and making apple cake with the apples we picked recently.
I’m looking forward to your brownie recipe. My husband loves that combo.

I had a VERY special day. I drove to the middle of West Virginia to meet up with one of my dear friends from California who was visiting a friend of hers in Charleston, W.Va. I left a truly special group of quilting buddies when I moved from CA to PA in June, and it was wonderful to see Sandy and her daughter for a few hours. Worth every second of the 300-mile round trip in the rain! The fall foliage in the mountains made it extra-awesome. Add a good book-on-tape for the ride, and i wouldn’t change a minute

Well, I know you asked about today, but let’s start with yesterday
A friend and I took our first ever drop spindle class and camehome with stuff to practise on. In two weeks we get to try wheels.
But today was swell too!!! I got to go with my son’s 5th grade class on a field trip to a local forest preserve (located in the city of Chicago.) Where we saw 7 deer (6 does and 1 buck), a fat fluffy raccoon, assorted wildly colored fungi and harvested seeds for prairie grasses that will later be used to re-establish other prairie regions.
Just doesn’t get much better than that! Glorious!

Well, it’s tomorrow over here, but yesterday was my younger son’s birthday, so I was making his birthday brownies and his birthday supper! Which was a good excuse to not be doing the laundry or the cleaning, although somehow I managed about half an hour of knitting!
I was also glued to the computer a good part of the day checking for the latest on the California wildfires. My sister and her family had to evacuate, but they returned to their home (untouched) last night, so that’s good news.
Enjoy having College Boy home!

Slept late (preparing for another overnight shift), put away all my sandals and got out my fall/winter shoes (the ones that go with the hand-knitted socks…), baked a poppy seed cake, finished my Groupie Appreciation Socks, caught up on e-mail, and went to an orchestra rehearsal. Not looking forward to that night shift tomorrow, but first I’ll be going to see “Dracula” at the Rep! Oh yeah, and planning which yarn I’m going to start up next. Also trying to decide which to use to make a chevron scarf. That’s more than enough.

About the AT&T phone loop…..a couple of years ago I had a problem with them. About a year after I had moved here to Arizona from Chgo, I was suddenly billed for a previous phone number that was my computer connection ONLY # in Illinois. It was never used as a voice line and I had not even HAD the # for over a year. When I called AT&T to explain this, I was speaking to someone in the middle of Asia, who had absolutely NO clue where Chicago was in relationship to northern Arizona and kept telling me that I had to pay it.
After about 5 separate attempts to speak to someone who might understand me (this over a period of several days) I finally called and pressed (or spoke) whatever the correct number was to connect me with a Spanish speaking operator…who naturally was NOT in the middle of Asia. She, of course, also spoke perfect English and I was then able to communicate my problem, which she then solved within minutes. Sometimes you have to be devious!

Today I get to take my boys to the apple orchard to pick out a pumpkin (they have a HUGE pumpkin patch behind the farm) & take their annual photograph on a big rock with a really pretty background. I’m going to fling them in the tub first, though, and that will be my time to work on a supersecret pair of socks (for the eldest for Christmas, you see). Then, this evening, we’re going to watch a History Channel production on the Salem witch trials. We’re studying the Colonial period in American history, and it’s an appropriately spooky sort of thing, given our current proximity to Halloween. Oh, and I have to make Eldest Boy’s costume today, too.
All in all, a very fun autumn day for me.
It also includes the maple sugar pumpkin pie I made last night, too…yum.

Things I need to do this weekend: make my daughter’s Halloween costume (a table with a plate of spaghetti over her head with yarn spaghetti and pom-pom meatballs), planting next year’s garlic crop, stacking firewood
What I’d rather do – hang out with my cats and knit all weekend!

- Not special:

– Cooking dinner for Mama
– Driving to work and home again
– Cleaning
– Requesting myriad unusual items from the Inter-
Library Loan Librarian at my library (since I do this
frequently, it’s really not special. I even had to
apologize to her this time, they’re pretty obscure.)
- Special
)
– Playing with the cat (OK, so it’s not unique, but it’s ALWAYS special!)
– Actually working on my book (got past the quetion that’s had me
stymied for 3 months!
– Drinking tea
– Lining up the Christmas Presents that can’t be knit or
crocheted in various shopping carts around the Internet
- Not doing
– Knitting
– Crocheting
– Sleeping (ok, a little, but that writing thing gets in the way)
– Cooking or baking anything fun/creative
– Practicing for upcoming choir concerts
So, yea, nothing really notable there. Maybe in the next couple of weeks.
And congrats on finally being almost settled! That must feel really good! Can’t wait for the pictures!

good morning sheri. i’m getting to read your comments late, as has become usual. i did want to tell you that my special projects currently involve basket weaving. we have a family gathering nov. 3 and a sister and neice are getting baskets for their birthdays. then we do a gift game and a couple other family members will be finding baskets as part of those gifts. so, i haven’t knit since finishing a beaded hat, also for that event. i gave lily a large market basket i used to store some basket making supplies in, so of course i’ll need to make something to replace that. i loved the photo a couple blogs back of gracie and zoe. it sure showed how alike their coats are with only the color difference. i’m so happy to hear they took to each other so well. looking forward to seeing more photos of the ‘new’ loopy ewe. have a great time with college guy home and try to find plenty of relaxation and knitting time!!
