Movers, Empty Rooms, New Kitty
The movers are busily moving all of our yarn and shelves to the new Loopy home today. We spent the weekend packing up the yarn and trying to move around all of the boxes and bags that kept accumulating in the dining room, hallway, and basement. I think the whole house will give a sigh of relief when the new place has taken all of this in! Here is a picture of where we’re going. Never fear, we will soon have the whole doggone place turned “Loopy” by the end of the week. Right now it just looks boring. In typical moving-day-Murphy’s-Law, it’s supposed to rain all day. So far, so good, but it’s getting cloudy. Good thing the yarn is bagged and protected.
In order to make my week a bit more complicated (and I seem to be good at that), we got a new kitten over the weekend. (Honestly, WH looked at me as if I might have lost a few marbles when I talked to him about it. Why would I do that during a week that is sure to be our most packed and overwhelming week in a long time? Um …. because we took one look at her and fell in love with her? Because I want Zoe to have a buddy to hang around with, now that I’ll be gone during the day? Because we needed a second cat? Because I like to stir things up? I can come up with a whole list of reasons. He knows this about me. He gave up and said yes.) So here she is – sweet little Gracie. Is she not just the cutest thing? She is soft and fluffy and extremely affectionate. She’s residing in the guest room until it’s time for her to meet Zoe. However, they have been playing “pawsie” under the door and meowing at each other, so I think it will go well. When you see a photo of the two of them together in the blog, you will know we have succeeded.
Onward with the move. I hope you all have a great week!

A new Loopy, a new Gracie – you are a very busy mummy. I am sure the girls will be sisters before you know it, there’s nothing quite like finding that new best friend you’ve waited all your life for.
I know the move will be smooth!!

The guest room stay is certainly the recommended way to introduce a new cat to a household. It’s very good that Gracie is ON the bed, not UNDER the bed hiding. She’s transitioning well!
Congratulations, new Meowmy!

Zoe needed a new friend I’m sure and Gracie is a doll!
It’s a good thing you decided to move into that space- it NEEDS a little loopy-ness. too bad about the rain. I’ve never moved on a day when it isn’t raining, one of those fabulous moving things I suppose. If it’s raining it’s bound to be cold and I’m sure you need a latte…

There’s nothing as much fun as doing everything at once! It keeps you young. New digs, new kitten – an exciting time for you all.
Summit County, Colorado received 12″ of snow yesterday! Good thing your trip was earlier!
Received my yarn from TLE on Sat. Scarlett Fleece Lapis Woodland colorway-even more lovely than the photo. Can’t wait to wind it up and start knittin’! Good luck on the move and those kitties will be fine.

Precious, just precious! If Gracie allows it, please rub noses with her for me. If not, express our delight in the manner she appreciates most. Her eyes remind me of the grand old gal that taught my Jack Russell to play gently!

Oh, Sheri, now just wouldn’t I do something like that. Yes, at the most in appropriate time. That is me full force. I’ m sure Zoe and Gracie will become fast friends. I have 5 cats. DH flipped out as each one came through the door. However, they are his best friends now. Good luck with the move. It will be so fun to go home to the kitties. Hugs

Yeah, a new kitty! Mr. Bailey and Chester sends their kitty love, and hope she has a good time living in the Loopy household. They both think that she is quite attractive..MEOW!
I like that you took a “before” photo, and can’t wait to see the “after”. I hope the weather hold out for you. Tell the rain to bypass Missouri and come straight to Indiana. We really need it. Keep fingers crossed for a relatively stressless move!

Your new Loopy Room looks so big and wonderful. I too am glad you took the before picture so we can all get an idea of your new office. Gracie is soooooo cute! I am a cat lover…we have 3. We have Indiana (Indy), Caroline and Harry-O (after the TV show) and would have more if we didn’t have 2 dogs. Have a great week. Kristi

What a lucky lady you are – New Loopy headquarters and a new kitty to boot…all in one week! Gracie is a doll, and I know Zoe will love her dearly once they get to meet each other in person…girl cats are easier than boys, I think. Have fun arranging the new Loopy room just how you want it, and I will keep my fingers crossed that the rain goes easy on you! Can’t wait to see pictures of the finished product!

If it’s any consolation, you’re less crazy than me… I adopted 8 week old manxkitten Picasso one week before a cross country move because I met him by accident during a catchenal-supplies-getting trip at a pet supplies store and started crying when this wee kitten licked my face.
So. You know? I grok it.
Yay for the loopy store!!!! It’ll be looking like itself right soon, I’m certain.

Welcome Gracie. And big purry hellos from your Florida friends Lily, Belle, and our latest addition, Sophie. Everyone needs friends! Congrats to Zoe on her new pal. I’m sure they’ll get along splendidly.
What a great space you’re moving into Sheri. The pic of it empty gave all of us a chance to mentally fill it up with our “dream yarns.” Walls full of yummy yarns…what a nice daydream for a Monday! Moving is such a fun adventure…a chore, I know…but so exciting. Enjoy!

I hope that “pawsie” and meowing is a good sign that Gracie and Zoe will be friends. Ya never know how new kittie integration will go until it’s going. But it’s really sweet of you to think that Zoe will need company with your being gone. My newest feline was acquired as a companion for my next youngest when her buddy, my then oldest, passed away. It has worked out well, and you have my best wishes on your girls becoming bosom buddies, too.

What beautiful space, Sheri. Nice and bright and open! Can’t wait to see it filled with yarn and shipping materials.
Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Currently I have 8 dogs (yes, that’s right, EIGHT DOGS!), 4 cats and a lizard (thanks to my dear college daughter). 5 of the dogs are just in my care. I’m fostering a mom and 5 puppies (3 weeks old last friday) through our local animal shelter. They’re the product of a puppy mill seizure and are shih tzu pups. Wicked CUTE! cats are like potato chips…you can’t have just one.

Best wishes on the move and on your new addition. We have 7 cats and they play nicely ( most of the time) Pawsie is a good sign. Ever wonder why cats can’t be convinced that there is no secret exit to the bathroom and torment you with pawsie while you’re in there?

Sounds like Gracie and Zoe are ready to meet! I’ve always had more than one cat at a time too–it’s great for them to have company during the day and it definitely relieves my guilt when I head out the door for work in the morning.
I’ll bet that room looks a LOT smaller when you get all the yarn in there
Liz said,

Aw, Gracie is so sweet!! I had an only cat for 19 years, and now I have a mom and daughter–they’re just the bestest friends, and I feel fine leaving them alone because I know they have each other to play with.
I always think the unpacking is better than the packing…seems to go faster for some reason. But YMMV.
Hope everything is going smoothly!!! Can’t wait to see the new Loopy!

Good luck and don’t wear yourself out!

Secondly, welcome to the cat zoo. I have three. When I kept adding more animals to the house they all acted like I had offended them. But after a week or so, they all figured out that I am not going to take any of them back so they had best get used to the idea of another animals residing with them.
