RAK - Last week I received a ham at work from my boss's insurance agent. It is a beautiful Maple Glazed/Honey Coated Ham. Unfortunately, we do not care for really sweet ham. DH sliced it on our electric slicer, I repackaged it in smaller portions using one of those vacuum sealer machines and we have given it to an elderly couple who lives near us. They have one meal a day delivered during the week so we thought this would be a nice supplement to their meals.

I dont know if this counts as an RAK, but in honor of our troops serving overseas (of which my hubby and I both were at one time, we served together in Kosovo in 2000-01) I signed up for Socks For Soldiers and am waiting for my yarn shipment to arrive. Since I have a hard time affording yarn Kim is sending me enough yarn for my first pair of BBS and I have promised to "Pay it Forward" by replacing the yarn I use and more if possible so that someone else may have the joy of knitting socks for our troops that cant afford the required yarn. I also put out a "Pay it Forward" chal1enge on my site and signed up for one on another site. So far no takers, but am hoping to have some soon. Oh and a kindness done for me, Ray (Knitivity.com) went to my site to purchase some crochet hooks and found a sale item that had 0.00 down as the price. He notified me of this as soon as he found it so that I coulkd fix it and avoid a potential problem.

My RAK for the week was complementing any sales person that I dealt with. I think sales people have a hard time this year with grumpy people, so I thought I would give them a little cheer. One sales person as it turned out, was a knitter. She had on a pretty scarf and we struck up a conversation. I can tell that it really brightened her day!!

Tonight I too, have both kids (and a son-in-love) under our roof. It was a harrowing experience getting them here, including canceled flights, blizzards and a 600 mile round trip drive culminating with a return here around 5am today. Everyone's home. It's such a wonderful feeling.

Hope that it's been a relaxing weekend for you.

Well now my College daughter is officially college graduate daughter, we spent the weekend watching her graduate. I also had some car knitting time and finished the hat for her boyfriend and I have almost finished the socks for my mother-in-law. Now I have to worry about her finding a job, but she will be home for Christmas in a couple of days, then she is off to NYC for new years for her graduation present. The hats and scarves will come in handy then! Enjoy them while they come home, her visits have become shorter and more infrequent over the past year but you want them to grow up.

Well, it was minus 9 degrees here at noon today, but no clouds, just beautiful blue sky and LOTS of snow from last weekend.

I, too, saw the RAK at Starbuck's in FL on the news, and I started yelling at my husband, Loopies have been doing RAKs all Month!! Then I had to explain to him about the contest, and blog, etc.

Can't wait to sign up tomorrow for April sleepover!!!

Staying inside knitting socks from TLE Interlacements Tiny Toes. Netflix pick tonight is "Syrianna" w/ George Clooney. Oyster stew for supper and chardonnay, with husband's prize winning pecan pie! Life could hardly be any better!
