I remember them as all white cotton, 4 inches wide and forever long, knit in garter stitch. They were rolled and safety pinned and sent to Hawaii. The church group did this for years and years. It's a good memory and thank you for bringing it back to me. My grandmother taught me to knit as she was knitting bandages for her church group to send to the leper colony, Moloka’i.
