Things are busy here today

A quick blog post today, as we’re all scurrying around doing Sneak Up orders and getting ready for the Spring Fling. It occurred to me that the Flingers will all get to see Loopy Central in person, and some of you non-Flingers might want a tour. (I know we’ve shown a few pics before, but things change here so much that it was time for another one!) So I hope you enjoy the photo-tour. By the way, my friend Janice arrived yesterday afternoon from Iowa, and Claudia (the Wollmeise) arrived from Germany last night. They’re both here helping out today. Janice is helping with pulling the orders and Claudia is helping with boxing them up. (And guess who else came in to surprise me yesterday? Web Guy/College Guy! He wanted to say hi to the Flingers on Thursday night, before heading back up to college on Friday.) It has been a fun week. :-)

We have a foyer when you first come through the door. This is what part of it looks like right now, but we’ll be changing it. We’re going to add diagonal wooden cubbies along the Red Cupboard wall, for additional space. (And then the Red Cupboard will go where the spinning chairs are.)

This is where we eat lunch. The counter is to the right as you walk in the doorway from the foyer. Do you like the red stools? They’re so comfortable.

And of course you’ve seen the Loopy kitchenette before. This is an important area because it’s where we keep the M&M’s and drinks in the fridge.

WH made this red island just this month. We love the added space, and the engraved Loopy title in the top of it. It’s actually redder in person than it looks here. Don’t all of the Little Loopies look like they’re having a great time? (You know you can click on any of these photos to make them bigger, right?)

It’s hard to get everything into one big photo, so I just took different views for you. Here are some of the aisles of yarn.

And the peg wall with sock blockers and bags and patterns.

This is our back winding table area (with the door to my office in the background.)

And this is the view from my office door, looking back into the main area of Loopy.

Here is our Red Couch Area. We sit here to make up Loopy Kisses, which is what Janice is sitting there doing at the moment (did you notice that we’re back to peppermints for the warm months? Bummer. Of course we still keep a huge bowl of kisses here for us. We can’t imagine not having our wooden bowl of Loopy Kisses at all times.) When any of our kids come to visit us here, they usually end up hanging out on the couches as well. Today Web Guy is working on the computer there. I wish I could say that knitting takes place there, but we don’t knit much here. Just at home. (Susan is in the background, printing your order labels and talking to one of you on the phone!)

Of course I wanted to show you a photo of some of the Elves who are working today. You can see Mary and Marianne in the foreground. Janice in the denim jacket (she’s an Honorary Elf today.) In the back we have Anna, Sue and Donna. Also here, but hiding – Claudia. (Claudia won’t let me take her photo. We are going to have to make a sign to hang around her neck at the Fling … “No photos!” But she’s bent down behind the island, hiding next to Janice.)

DSC01716.JPG

And this is what the front area looks like as of 10 minutes ago, when our day’s worth of UPS deliveries arrived. Sigh. (The UPS guys don’t get “the whole yarn thing”.)

DSC01718.JPG

I had better get back to work up front. The Elves don’t believe me when I tell them I’m working back here in my office. They think I’m snoozing or something, FPS.

No blog post on Friday, as we’ll be mid-Fling, but I’ll check back in on Monday with Fling Photos for you! Have a great rest of the week. (And come Fling with us the next time!)

  1. Am I seeing Zecca tape measures in the group picture? I’ve been waiting to order one for what seems like forever!!!!! :)

Thanks for sharing Loopy Central!!!! Can I come visit just to hide in all that yummy yarnness???

Have fun everyone at the Fling!

  2. Just out of curiosity – does web guy happen to circulate anywhere near media/TV related stuff at Taylor? Would he perhaps know John and Kathy Bruner? If you get a chance to ask him, I’d love to know. I promise I’m not crazy – it’s just that I knew the Bruner’s when I was in college; they were at Asbury before they went to Taylor. I’m just trying to shrink the world a little bit more.

  3. Thanks so much for the tour. It’s so lovely to see what a warm and lively environment my Loopy packages come from! And now I am just longing for one of those Offhand designs bags, I hadn’t realised how luscious they are til I saw them all lined up in your photo :-)

  4. OMG, I loved the tour. Absolutely georgous, all that yarn and the way you have it all decorated. Have a great time this week.

  5. Thank you so much for the tour. I love Loopy Central, it looks so cozy and welcoming, not to mention all the pretty yarn! (Drool…) And let me say, one last time, how much I wish I could be there for the Spring Fling! To all the Spring Flingers: Safe traveling, have a wonderful time, and try not to buy ALL the yarn—leave a few skeins for the rest of us!

  6. Thanks for the tour! I wish I could visit Loopy Central in person. Maybe one day. Except that I would be So Broke afterwards. It is bad enough seeing all the pretty yarn on screen, but seeing (and touching!) it IRL, oh man! I would shop!!!

  7. Wow, that red island is gorgeous – WH is certainly talented!

And oh my gosh I’m so jealous of those getting to go to the spring fling! I look at those pictures and I just want to stick my hands through my computer screen and squeeze all those beautiful skeins of yarn. Wow wow wow. What a lovely place you’ve made!

  8. Wow!!! What a beautiful store. I don’t think you’d want me working for you (even though I”m a hard worker) you’d have to search me constantly because I don’t think I could pass up stuffing my pockets, bra, anywhere else I could stuff full of the fantastic yarn!!!!! I may be having a break down and get some more yarn. I told you I absolutely love the duet yarn I got this past weekend.
I don’t know if you all know about “Lockins” but when I was in our church youth group, many moons ago, we would stay at our church, or our local skating rink ( that should tell you how old I am!!) and the building would be “locked in” where we would stay there all night in our PJs and have a blast. Is this what your Spring Fling is??? If not, have you thought about a “Lockin”? I think it would be a blast to stay all night at Loopy Ewe and knit and play games, fun stuff!!!! Just a thought. 9. Thanks for the tour. I had been trying to visualize what the place looked like!
I hope you all have a great time at the Fling. Think of us who can’t make it.
    Sigh…..

  10. Thanks for the tour. Enjoyed the pictures! :)

Hope college guy has a safe return trip back to college! Have a great time with all the ladies at the Spring fling! :D

  11. Thank you so much for the awesome photo tour of The Loopy Ewe!!! LOVED IT!! I was trying to name all the yarn in your photos – - I think I did pretty good. I loved seeing all the Lorna Laces lined up like that – - I tried to find the colorway I just ordered, but I didn’t.

Thank you Sheri and enjoy your spring fling!! I’m soooo jealous!!!

  12. Look at that beautiful red island! WH has many, many talents!!! My hubby is a finish carpenter, too, and does similar beautiful things, just not for me yet. Hmm, I’ll have to show him this picture.

    Fling for all of us!

  13. What a bummer I can’t make the Fling this weekend…looks like you guys are gearing up for some major fun. I am in absolute love with that red island, with The Loopy Ewe engraved on the top :-) A very nice edition indeed!

  14. I love the set up and one day I’ll get to see your place. It looks like a fiber person’s paradise.

I wish I could be there but in the mean time have lots of fun this weekend.

  15. The picture tour was great! Thank you. I would have loved to go and meet you guys. Please take lots of pictures and remember fun details to share with us next week. Enjoy!!

  16. Awesome! Thanks for the tour!! I’m going to be in STL this summer and I’m crossing my fingers that I can make it to Loopy Central! :)

  17. Sheri I just wanted to thank you for the lovely surprise gift ( pattern/stitchmarker) I received recently :) I love them both :) I love the pictures of the store BTW and want to reach out and stroke all the lovely yarns :)

Have a lovely Spring Fling, I hope it is a fun event for you all :)

  18. Thanks for the virtual tour. It making me jealous of all the people on the Spring Fling! :) I hope to one day to go to work everyday in a place that looks like that!

  19. I noticed something while eagerly devouring the pictures of Loopy Central: College Guy is wearing store-bought socks! *gasps* I would think he’d at least wear hand-knit ones while “at home” at Loopy Central… (Not passing judgment, just making a joke.)

Loopy Central is lovely! It makes me want to pile all the pretty, pretty yarns on the floor and roll around in them. I wish I could have gone to the Fling! Maybe next year, eh?

When I look at the pictures of the yarn in the shop, they look a little sad and isolated on that white background, and I’m sure I’ve not bought certain yarns because of it. Could we maybe get the option to buy a “random skein” as a Loopy Groupie bonus, sight unseen? Maybe every 100th skein, we’d get that opportunity? Because I wouldn’t necessarily have purchased the exact colorway I got in my Loopy Groupie package, but I certainly liked the surprise.

  20. The Loopy Ewe is beautiful! I love the personalized case with the logo on top. And – it is so neat and tidy! A+.
