Here’s my trick for getting the second sock done; I knit socks that “match” by yarn. So I’ll knit a sock in a particular yarn and pattern and then I’ll knit the “matching” sock in the same yarn but a different pattern. I’ve discovered over the years that nobody really looks at your socks to see if they match exactly. Having the same color is enough and this way I don’t get bored doing the exact same thing that I’ve just done.

“O Holy Night” is my absolute favorite. I used to watch “Days of Our Lives” and an actress sang an a capella version that gave me the shivers. I *think* that actress later became the singer Desiree…. ???

Have you ever heard Kenny G’s “Millenium version” of Auld Lang Syne? That one gives me the shivers too. It’s really interesting listening to it in a mixed-age crowd….you get a feel for the events that mark our lifetimes and how old you were when something big happened matters!

My third thing to share: You know how you buy yarn for a project all at once—and double-triple check the dye lots, so everything matches? Well, I’m *finally* knitting up a project (two years + after buying the yarn!) and I noticed that the dye lot, while the same, appears to shift from a blue-ish to a more purple-ish tone….in the front and *very* visible. *sigh* Guess I’ll be frogging that part to re-knit it with one of the other skeins. What’s the point of dye lots, if they *still* don’t match? (Fortunately, it’s nothing TLE offered—I didn’t know about you then!!!! )

When we saw thew Malabrigo guys at Stitches we told them they needed to make a little Loopy! and they did!

1. Have to knit dishclothes
2. Have to make mom a hat in Don’t Be Blue
3. I just want to knit for me. Darn deadline!

I have informed everyone in my immediate family that, should we be out in public shopping together, and the song ‘I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus’ starts playing – they may want to wander far away from me and act like they don’t know me as I can no longer guarantee I will not start growling and hissing….that said:

1. listen to good music I love to combat the many songs (including the Chipmunks singing jingle bells) that I’ve heard during the holiday season AGAINST MY WILL.
2. finish my gift knit socks for the three kiddos
3. cast on something entirely for myself and not feel selfish but have just a twinge of guilt so as to be justified in consoling myself with a chocolate covered cherry!

1. Purchase my brother/sis-in-law’s xmas gift for my husband and figure out how i got roped into doing that

2. Get some sleep! My 9-day evil work trip has sucked me dry, and I need some serious sleepage to start feeling human again.

3. Mail box of xmas gifts to my best friend for him and his family. Yes, I’m behind on that. See trip referenced in #2.

Oh well. The world won’t end if any of that stuff doesn’t get finished on time. Before I left, I was itching to start a sweater, so I’m hoping once I get some sleep that urge will return. Have a great weekend!

I love I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. It just gets completely stuck in the head.

As for the rest, I like Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer, but it has definitely been overplayed this year. I also prefer I saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus (Most of my holiday music is of the Twisted Christmas/Dr. Demento variety).

Three things I’m thankful for:
1. my grandkids (we will be able to spend Christmas with them this yr)
2. all the people who helped box up stuff for the troops from our little town. We thought we’d be sending 600 boxes but managed to send close to 800!!
3. my husband (for putting up with me and all my yarn talk)

2. Greensleeves (instrumental-only version of What Child Is This, amazing when played on a viola)

My three least favorite Christmas songs:
1. Jingle Bell Rock (I had to play this in orchestra from 6th to 10th grade and it seems to be a department store favorite-gahh!)
2. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
3. Jingle Bell Rock (it seriously causes me to twitch)

Three thing I’m looking forward to this weekend:
1. Sleeping in (if the cats let me).
2. Knitting on my swap partner’s gift. (It’s the most complex lace knitting I’ve ever done — pattern on both sides.)
3. Getting out the sewing stuff and making a few additional things for above gift.

Three things this is the last week of the semester:

1. Finals! I had one Tuesday and two on Friday (blah).
2. The desire to knit – and I’ve been working on UFOs – yay!
3. The weather is nasty, roads are icy and it’s freezing and I noticed that Frog Baby (http://tinyurl.com/58edta ) had her hat and scarf and even reindeer antlers.
