Prayers and Good Wishes
Many of you have called in and talked with Susan here at Loopy Central (or traded emails with her). She was the first official Loopy Elf and we had been friends for years before that. Now she’s our Office Manager and she’s the one that I describe by saying, “I couldn’t do this business without her, and I wouldn’t want to.” She and the other elves keep the orders moving out quickly and efficiently. She will be going in for Breast Cancer surgery tomorrow and I knew that all of you would want to know. I asked her if I could share this on the blog and she said, “Well, the more prayers the better, right?” We’re all hoping for a quick recovery for her and the best news possible on all accounts. I will keep you posted. She has a great outlook and she’s not a worrier. (I told her I’d worry enough for both of us.) Thank you for being the kind, caring group that I know you are. I know you’ll keep her prayed up and loved through this, and so will all of us here at Loopy.

Strength, power, humility, humor, and every prayer possible are headed your way, Susan, as you recover from surgery and beyond. My mother is a survivor and I know you’ll be in that group soon, too!
Also prayers in general that we all work hard towards finding a cure for this and other women’s health issues that touch EVERY ONE of our lives.

Susan, you are in my thoughts today and will be in my prayers as you go through your surgery and recovery. Keep your positive attitude. It will serve you well. And help you heal faster.
Take time for yourself, not just the recovery time, but go into extreme self-care mode. Let other people help you out. It isn’t weakness to lean on others when you need to. People are incredibly kind and generous.
We love you and are praying for your full recovery.

I hope she’s a knitter and will be able to find lots of positive Karma in yarn therapy (or even if she’s not, she can just hang around TLE and soak up the good vibes!). I know she’ll be back soon giving the usual fabulous service we all count on and enjoy.

Susan,
Many prayers coming your way. I was diagnosed at age 39 with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. I’m 59 now, thanks to God, many prayers, and lots of hug medicine from my children and husband. If you can get hold of a copy of Bernie Siegel’s “Love, Medicine, and Miracles”, I’d highly recommend it. A nurse gave it to me to read right before my mastectomy and I’ve been giving copies of it to my friends over the years who have battled cancer. He really offers such a positive slant on things. You’ll make it through this and, believe it or not, come out on the other side of the experience realizing that you’ve been given a blessing that few others have —the chance to really know how precious every single moment of life is.

Susan, my thoughts & prayers are with you! One year ago tomorrow (Feb 12th) I had my biopsy, pretty certain what the results would be. Here I am, a year later, having made it through surgery, chemo, and radiation, now with “just the rest of my life” ahead of me! It’s a tough road, but you can do it! One of the hardest things for me was learning not only to accept help & support, but to ask for it – but the help, love, and support was plentiful, as I’m sure it will be for you, too. Please feel free to e-mail me (or PM me on Ravelry: knitsnknishes) if you’d like.

As a breast cancer survivor for ten years I can tell you that the road is not easy but is doable. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and you WILL have a speedy recovery. The American Cancer Society has wonderful support programs for breast cancer patients, all run by survivors that make you feel sooo good and can answer all the questions that you have about it, including the ones that seem to be too silly to ask anybody. I am sure that somebody from them will contact you in the near future, if not is a good thing to contact them. I am sending you a lot of positive thoughts and energy and a BIG hug. Keep us posted on your progress and came back soon, we will miss you.

I’ll be praying for Susan and hoping for her speedy recovery. And when she comes back, we’ll all give her a little reprieve and try not to bug her too much for a while.

My MIL just had successful breast surgery at, wait for it, 90 years old! She said it was all the prayers ascending for her that made it as successful as it was.
I’m not arguing with a 90 year old woman! There’s plenty more where that came from.

Susan sometimes it helps to talk to someone who has been through the scare of being diagnosed with breast cancer. I am a survivor not once but twice – the first time 15 years ago & the second 10 years ago. Please feel free to email at anytime if you have any questions or fears or just need an ear or shoulder. I remember the night before my mastectomy talking to my sil’s grandmother for 2 hours, just listening to her helped me tremendously – I didn’t feel like I was going through the process blind. I also recommend getting a copy of Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book. If you’d like I can drop my copy off at the Loopy Ewe office – it’s been around the block with other women & I would not mind at all – in fact I’ll take it over there tomorrow. In the meantime I’m sending you good vibes, thoughts & prayers!

Susan, I am a 10 year breast cancer survivor, diagnosed age 38. My sister was diagnosed at age 30 and died when she was33. My cousin has been diagnosed twice age 34 and again at 38. I am a nurse and my hospital is opening a new breast center in the next couple of weeks. My job will be that of a breast health navigator. You should look for that type of person in St louis. I can’t imagine your big care facilities would not employ such a person. Their job is to educate you and get you down the path of breast cancer treatment. We just had Elizabeth Edwards here for our cancer symposium. She was full of hope and grace. One would never pick to have breast cancer, but i would not trade any of my experiences i have had in my life because ot it. It has trult enriched my life in many ways. Please contact me if I can provide any information for you or help you in any way from Montana. I think a positive attitude, and continuing to be able to laugh are your best allies to get you through. There are two books i would recommend for education Be A Survivor and Judy Kneece Breast Cancer Treatment Book. Both are on Amazon. I just finished reading I wore Lipstick to My mastectiomy and really enjoyed it. Americann Cancer society has lots of good puplications as well and susan g komen website. Positive thoughts from one of your BREAST friends! Michelle
