Sunny in St. Louis

dsc02390It’s sunny today and looks deceptively nice outside. (I know for a fact that it’s still cold out there – I was just out buying a truckload of Loopy Kisses.) We had a nice visit with College Guy and College Girl this weekend. It was sleeting and snowing the whole way up on Saturday, but it stopped about 5 minutes outside of the bustling metropolis of Upland, IN. The rest of the weekend was cold and windy, but snow-free. We had some meals out, caught Slumdog Millionaire, and did the requisite trip to Wal Mart so that they could stock up on stuff while their dad was paying. :-)  I’m a little sad that we missed out on a trip to Ivanhoes this go-round, but when you’re only there for 24 hours, something has to give. Here’s a picture of our two, plus Jess, a friend of College Guy’s who was also in town for the weekend. Can you guess where we had Sunday brunch? (The rocking chairs on the porch are a dead giveaway.)  It was great to have some time with them and I think it might hold me over until Spring Break at the end of March. Or at least I know that the end of March will be here before I know it.

dsc02392This is the wall that I’ve picked out for our “Why I knit” collage. Doesn’t it look bare? It’s in our little kitchen here at Loopy Central.  This area is opposite the red couches, so it will be in a great location for visiting knitters to view and read. (Or for them to show to their non-knitting friends dsc02393who came along for the ride.) We don’t have many empty walls here, because they’re full of shelves of yarn, so this is the perfect place for something like this. Thanks to those of you who have already emailed me photos for the wall, and please keep them coming!  I’ll keep you posted on the progress as we move forward on it. WH is coming up with a good way for me to make this permanent-looking, but portable. If we ever move Loopy, I will want to take it along!

dsc02394We just put new things up on the website for you! Check out: Fleece Artist 2/6, sKNITches Bebop Sock, Lane Borgosesia Cashwool, Farmhouse Fannie’s Fingering, Shoppel Wolle’s Zauberball (aren’t those colors gorgeous?), Earthly Hues Cashmere Sock, Offhand Designs Weekender bags, and new patterns from Spillyjane Knits. We’re also working on Sock Club kits this week, so watch for your invoices sometime next week if you’re a Sock Club member.

  1. O.M.G. I LOVE the Zauberballs. I hope this is an item you’ll get lots more of in the future cuz my bank account just won’t let me buy any yet. Hopefully when I get my tax return back I can treat myself to some fresh goodies.

  2. How does the Zauberball work? The description says one long repeat so is it two repeats from which you can make matching (ish) socks or really one long repeat where the socks will be similar but not match?

  3. So glad you had a nice visit this weekend. Perfect way to cap the weekend off too. A Cracker Barrel breakfast is yummy! I love to look around the shop at all the cute stuff.

Yummy yarn this week too. I’m trying to be good until the Fling. I may cave soon.

  4. Sounds like a fun weekend but all too short. My older one will be going away to school in a couple of years and I am NOT looking forward to that at all. Good thing that spring break is coming up fast!

Can’t wait to see photos of the wall-in-progress! Now must go check out those intriguing Zauberballs (I have to sit this one out, but maybe next time…)!

  5. You’re at Cracker Barrel! When my kids were young, we would drive from Dallas to Melbourne, Florida and we always stopped at Cracker Barrel. It’s still my son’s favorite breakfast place. Such memories!
The Zauberballs are beautiful! I hope you are knitting of your socks in it :)

    Have a wonderful week.

  6. I can’t find the Shoppel Wolle’s Zauberball on the website to look at. Not showing up in the vendor list either….. :-(

  7. Love the picture! So glad you had a nice time with your kids…and friend. ;) I can’t wait to see your knitters wall. What a neat idea to inspire other knitters as well.

  8. Hi Sheri,
No lie I just purchashe the burnt orange Zauberball yarn this weekend. It is so pretty. I saw all the solid colors like the reds (Love it) greens, blues, purples. But I missed out on the multi color ones. You need to show how it knits up on that picture conected to the yarn. I like it.This shop that has it said it was the one yarn that really stood out at the show. So everyone buy NOW.

  9. Lucky you, getting to see your kiddos! We are trying to go see our son this weekend so he can say goodbye to his older brother before we move him up to Northern Michigan from Maryland.

  10. I tried Monday to read your blog but for some reason I kept getting Friday’s post. Oh well…
Glad you had a good visit with College Kids. My nephew is a “cook” at Cracker Barrel so naturally I like to eat there. I don’t eat there often as we don’t have one here.

  11. I saw the photo before I had read down that far and said to myself “They are at a Cracker Barrel”, too funny!!! I love cracker barrell!
