There were a lot of sheep …
… at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. This was my first time to go, and I had so much fun! Of course the yarns and fibers were wonderful, but I came home with mostly sheep photos. So many breeds and colors and personalities. It’s a good thing that I flew, otherwise I may have been tempted to do some bidding in the auction. I still think the grassy area next to our building is begging for sheep. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the weekend.
No Sneak Up this week (mostly due to box issues with the post office – don’t get me started….). Just thought I’d save you some F5-ing tonight.

We have a wonderful herd of Jacob sheep about a half mile from home, guarded by a llama and a couple of mixed-breed goats. We live in a subdivision, so no critters allowed, but I can go visit these guys whenever I miss my childhood goat herd…

I spent my Sunday afternoon at local sheep farm and Cocoa (moorit corriedale) jumped right in my back seat or at least her fleece did. Debit D Dog checked when I got home and assured me that no live sheep was present. I also bought some Navajo churro roving from Arianne and Josie. I was going to go to the goat lady dairy and buy cheese but had to park too far away.
All the fiber-y, knitting activity from last 2 weeks has made me quite tired so, instead of going to knit night, I’m staying in tonight to knit to rest up for upcoming weekend fiber events. My F5 finger will appreciate the rest.

Gorgeous sheepy pics- I’m glad my DH isn’t at home, though- he’s terribly worried that once we emigrate to New Zealand, I’ll be unable to resist buying a flock of sheep…think of the YARN!

Did you see any Shetland sheep? Now those little cuties would fit comfortably in a suburban back yard. Too bad my small yard was covered in concrete before I bought the place. Bet you got a good nose full of lanolin smell though, huh? Nuthin’ like the smell of fresh sheep fleece in the morning (afternoon, evening…)!!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I hope you had a wonderful time at Sheep & Wool, there were a fair number of us who met up there. Such cute sheep, indeed – I spent some time wondering if my husband would notice if I smuggled one home…

I have almost the identical picture of the Jacob’s sheep on my blog (except that mine has glowing demonic eyes). I wonder if we were there in that barn at about the same time?!

I didn’t know you were at Maryland Sheep and Wool!
It was such a fun time for us! Sunday was pouring down rain, so we didn’t last as long as last year, but we really enjoyed Saturday (and Friday night too). I love meeting other fiber folks!

You could love ‘em, feed ‘em, clean ‘em, then sheer the wool, spin it, dye it, and sell it!!!

We almost came home from Sheep and Wool with a herd of Alpacas. My son fell in love with them and was told that they’re social animals and do best in a herd. The woman at the show said I should buy 5, and would ONLY need an acre for them. I had to point out to my son that in Washington, DC VERY few people have more than 1/5 of an acre of land (us included). He was devastated.

I was in Maryland, too. Wasn’t that Jacob ram with the horns awesome! I had such a fun time and everyone a stopped to talk to were super nice from the shoppers to the breeders. I can’t wait for next year!
