Shopping Day

DSC00774It’s always fun to shop here, whether it’s window shopping (on the days you’re trying not to spend money) or bargain shopping (on the days when you hit the Silverthorne Outlet Stores because the deals are too good to pass up.) One of my favorite places to hang out and wander around is Breckenridge. I DSC02804have been going to Joy of Sox since before The Loopy Ewe.  I used to buy socks there, but now I just look at their cute earrings and other accessories.  I still like the name of the shop. (And so does Loopy, who wanted to be in the photo.) I also love going to Creatures Great and Small. They have fun things in there, but I spend most of my time looking at the Trollbeads and Chamilia beads. Plus, the owners are wonderful. The little yellow house is 111 years old, and they’ve been there for 23 years.

DSC02805We always finish the day here by having pizza at Downstairs at Erics. (Yes, you do have to go down the stairs to get to the restaurant.) The only thing I don’t like about being up here in the mountains is the altitude. After a few days, you find that you don’t get so out of breath climbing a flight of stairs (FPS), but this t-shirt seemed really appropriate today.

  1. Glad you’re having a good time. I’m not much of a shopper but that little yellow house is cute. I grew up in a 1785 Colonial, so I LOVE old buildings.

  2. It sounds like you’re having a wonderful time. I’m so happy for you! I can imagine how fun it must be to go to a store that knows (and keeps track of) how old their building is. :)

  3. Sheri, you are too funny! You are on vacation and have blogged more this week than when you aren’t on vacation! Glad you are having a great time. Knit more!

  4. It is true that one adjusts to the altitude usually in a matter of days. I used to be the manager of the gift shop in the Summit House on top of Pikes Peak and tourists were always curious about how we handled being up there every day – it’s a simple matter of acclimation. I am planning to return to Colorado for my daughter’s graduation from the University of Northern Colorado in December and am already daydreaming about visiting Needleworks in Old Colorado City, The Stitchin’ Den in Estes Park, My Sister Knits in Fort Collins, and Woolen Treasures in Loveland. I have 6 days to fit all that in along with graduation festivities and checking on the house we own in Colorado Springs!

  5. I have a house in Silverthorne. It is so wonderful. Can’t wait to get there this summer. I love going to The Yarn Studio in Minturn. Kathy is fabulous like you Sherri. Enjoy the mountains & the cool weather.
