I belong to the Knitting Guild of Tidewater in Gloucester, VA. We sponsor a knitting help session on Tuesday afternoons at the Main Street Library. In addition, one member hosts weekly knitting groups at her yarn shop/manicure shop. I meet with the Monday night group; there is also a Wednesday morning group (that I get to once and a while on vacation days). But most of my production knitting is at my son's baseball games (which seem to stretch from March through November! Baseball is no longer a "spring" sport!!!)

I belong to a local knitting group. We meet on Wednesday nights. I've been going for about a year now. It is very fun and relaxing after a long day at work. I have learned and may have even taught a thing or two. There is definitely a difference between "social knitting" and projects you can't be too engrossed in a conversation and hope it even looks half way right.

I belong to several knitting groups in the Des Moines area. I could knit with others every day if I did not work, but then I couldn't afford so much yarn. I love knitting with others. I love the feed-bck and the encouragement you get. Also the Ideas of things to knit. We have a large age range here and we all seem to help each other. We are very blessed here in the mid-west.

i tried to join the local knitting group, but the contact person is insanely inflexible with meeting times, so i gave up. they meet on tuesdays and i work on tuesdays! would a wednesday really kill them once in a while? boooooo.

so, i knit alone. or rather, i knit amid the furry family and my hb.

I knit alone, mostly at home although I do like to take my knitting with me outside of home. I really would love to join a knitting group and meet other knitters in my area. The only knitting group I've found in my area is a group where all the members are significantly older than me. It's a little awkward for me being much younger and I feel like I don't have anything in common with them other than knitting. I do keep my eyes open for other groups and I do have several internet knitting friends and online groups that are a lot of fun.

I belong to a knitting group that meets Monday nights. I started going maybe three years ago? We've got about 30 people (we actually do have an occasional man!) ranging in ages from undergrad to grandma. The group started out smaller, knitting at our local yarn shop, but our LYS had to close down and we've migrated to a cafe in town and grown a bit in the process. For the summer, a small group of us have instigated a knitting crawl through half the restaurants and coffee shops in town, picking up random new knitters here and there. We even knit at one of the bars! I think that was my favorite spot ;-) And a few of us get together occasionally for a movie night or dinner out...knitting always in hand, of course!

I absolutely love my knitting group. We may have squabbles sometimes and people do come and go, which makes me a bit sad, but I've made so many good friends through this group that I don't mind the drama so much. Not to mention that knitting with my group, sharing new FOs and WIPs and the gripes and pride that come along with either, has seriously helped further my skills. I am so completely grateful for all the inspiration and encouragement that comes from that quarter; I doubt I'd be into knitting nearly as much as I am without them :D

I have a church group that meets once a month to crochet or knit. I like to go to receive help with new stitches and to see what projects others are working on. I get more work done at home, though. I crochet in public, too, like at a scout meeting or Special Olympics. I make hats and scarves for the needy.

Here in Oshkosh, we have a knitting night every Wednesday at one of the Starbucks. We have a core group of diehards who don't miss a week, and then we have others who come and go. This week, we're hoping to get some folks here for EAA to join our group. So, tomorrow we'll add the sound of airplanes to our chatter!

What could be better, knitting and Starbucks!

I'd love to have a group to knit with but there's not one available to me at this point, and, since I'm still recovering from yet another surgery, I couldn't drive to one anyway. But I get a lot of support from my Ravelry buddies & I'm very grateful for their support.
Now, I'm off to search for why I can't seem to find a way to order the Anniversary kit!
