Citron Completed … and a Contest!
First of all, thank you for all of the wonderful comments and emails that you have sent, regarding our new Loopy Ewe Solid Series line. And thank you for all of your orders! We’ve had such a great time seeing the color combinations that you’ve picked out. You are making some really cool projects! We’re looking forward to seeing them, and we’ll be setting up a separate Photo Gallery just for your Solid Series projects on our website.
I’m still working on my Summer Cardi for the Mini Challenge. The body is almost done, so I just need to add a few more rows to the short sleeves and then do the border. In the meantime, I started a Citron out of Wollmeise Lace. (Because I wanted to be knitting Wollmeise on the day that I was sitting in Claudia’s brick and mortar shop, knitting away.) I finished that up over the weekend and have washed and blocked it. Actually, I blocked the heck out of it, because I
wanted it a bit longer. I like the way it turned out, and especially love the color. However, there is a lot of knitting in there. It seemed to go on forever and a day! The denser looking sections have had the stitches doubled, so – like I said – a lot of knitting. (Other people seem to whip these out. Apparently I don’t knit that fast.) Since Wollmeise Lace is hard to come by, you might try this pattern out of Malabrigo Lace (which is what the original pattern was done out of) or Malabrigo Sock. I think I’d like the slightly heavier sock weight. It would also be beautiful in Madelinetosh Sock or Dye Dreams Twinkle Toes.
I have two things on my “knit next” list. One, those gorgeous Norwegian Rose Socks from Wendy’s Book. I picked my colors – Malachite and Ice. Second, I want to start crocheting something hexagon-y like this (Rav link). But I want it to be lightweight and baby-sized, so I’m using our new solid line to do it. (Did you catch that? I’m going to CROCHET. Guess who took a Crochet Class at TNNA a couple of weeks ago? And guess who liked it??) Now for the blog contest question of the month – what are the next two things on your “knit next” list? Leave your answer in the comments and we’ll be giving away $30 Loopy Ewe Gift Certificates to the randomly drawn winners, next week!

Both of my next projects are socks for my mom and my step-dad. They have received lots of socks from me previously, but when I visited recently, they tried my newest yarn obsession, the MCN (Caper, Bugga, Doppio) and “placed orders” right away! I will make Monkeys for my mom and plain vanilla socks with 2×2 ribs for my stepdad.

I have a cotton tank top first on my list, #2 is a tossup between another summer sweater (pattern is a tossup between two choices, the Counterpane Blouse in the Spring/Summer Interweave knits, cotton Yoga sweater or else a one of several fall shawls I have picked out. All depends on how fast I knit!

Things that have been on my list FOREVER (but keep getting put off in favor of–gasp, my newly caught sewing bug):
1) Audrey in Unst
2) Those long gloves from Ysolda published in Twist Collective (probably out of the new Loopy Ewe solids!)
Both are for work–AC is killing me more than Chicago winters ever have.

My next item is the Skuld shawl in the Norns KAL from Knit and Knag Designs. This is part 1 of 3 in this series. It should be fairly quick as it only uses 440 yds. of fingering wt. yarn.
(Plus I need to finish the Haruni (2 rows left) and the Riga Shawls I have going right now)

Wow, your variegated Citron is beautiful! Up next on my to-knit list is a plum colored Swallowtail shawl and a modified Forecast sweater in shocking red! Both fun projects. I’ve recently gotten into knitting with lace weight yarns (as opposed to sock weight) so that has been an interesting challenge since the yarn is so thin.

Entomology shawl from Knitty by Laura Nelkin and Nutkin socks which call for wollmeise, but I can never catch an update, so I’ll probably have to substitute.

The next couple of items that I am going to knit will be baby items for the new baby that I am expecting in December. First, I need to knit a Baby Surprise Jacket. This has been my baby shower gift of choice lately, and I need to knit one for my baby! Second, I want to knit a baby blanket. It will most likely be the Baby Chalice Blanket. (I love lace!) I can’t wait until I have my ultrasound in a few weeks and find out what I am having so that I can place an order at The Loopy Ewe for the yarn. I will probably use Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport for the BSJ and Dream in Color Classy for the blankie.

Citron is also on my list, but my next 2 are [Evening Bodice](pattern) by Lori Ihnen in the book [A Garden Stroll](book) and [Charleston](pattern) by Kim Dolce. I am considering some WM for the evening bodice, but it may need a lite fingering, and I want to do the Charleston in DIC smooshy.

Only the next 2 projects, I have a waiting list of at least 5. However for the next 2 projects I have are “End-of-the-season Baktus Scarf” freebie on Ravelry for my teenage daughter. She picked a very bright sock yarn to do this in. After that knit I will be doing a pair of socks for my husband. These will be done in casscade sock yarn – in shades of blue. My husband is not very adventurous in the sock catagory. And of course this yarn came from LOOPY!! Loopy Ewe gives us very warm toes, thank you!!

Your Citron looks great in that colorway. I think too often names of patterns tend to restrict color choices for some knitters. My next couple of projects are taking me backwards instead of forwards. I need to get sleeves on a couple of sweaters I’ve decided I don’t care for now that the body is done. I’ve been holding them for a couple years, debating about frogging, finishing or forgetting them. Final decision is finish and donate.

Since I’m working on a kitchen set for my fellow guild board member, another piece of that. (vague in case she’s reading)
And since the guild is working on ornaments for a Christmas tree that will be auctioned off in a Festival of Trees this fall, one or more ornaments.
Love the new solids! That’s a great idea, for colorwork especially! And of course, some of the extreme texturework we’re seeing now.
Lots of hot here in Northern Virginia — but cold in my office, where the 67 degree air pours down my back all day. I need a Citron!!!

My next 2 projects are another pair of socks – trying the 2 at a time on 2 circ needles method – and probably a dishcloth in a waffle pattern that I found on Ravelry. I can’t wait! I just got about 2/3 of the heel flap done on the second sock of a pair I have been working on since late Feb or early March! I guess I’m a slow knitter….

Of course, the way my knitting inspiration works, I could well pick up a completely random project and go with that instead.

1) a beautiful cowl to be made in laceweight yarn (Ella Ray laceweight that I found on a “just looking” visit to a wonderful yarn shop in Houston) that I found on Knitty.com
2) a lovely rectangular shawl to be made in light fingering weight yarn (from my Socks that Rock membership) from Anne Hanson.

I think I will be knitting the Burberry Cowl next. I say this because in addition to my 4 page queue on Ravelry, I also have a line up of bags with yarn projects forming. I’m anxious to do the pin wheel socks and the transition gloves, but they keep getting bumped. Oh, I might do the Aspen Neck Cowl instead so I can find out if I bought enough yarn.

Hi Sheri!
Great Citron!
Next on my knit list is another “Sheldon” (Knitty). We call Sheldon “Mr. Swimmy”. Mr. Swimmy went over so well that I need to make Mr. Swimmy’s Brother, Mr. Swimmy and Mr. Swimmy’s sister, Miss Swimmy. (We may have seen Elmo’s World once or twice here.)
Then, I’m making the shrug from the summer Vogue Knitting and I am also interested in the Gamine Tank and the Counterpane Blouse from Interweave’s Spring/Summer mag.
Thanks for the chance.

Second will probably be a shawl. I have two skeins of beautiful WM that is are telling me that they want to be a shawl. First I have to find the right pattern.

Next on my “to knit” list are two different scarves for a charity auction: both are from the book “Knitting New Scarves”. One is called “Woven Cords” and the other is called “Tilted Blocks” (4-color version). The charity is a nonprofit arts organization called SculptureSpace, so I thought the sculptural nature of these two patterns would be appropriate.
Next up after that is my personal challenge – a double-knit coat with an Art deco pattern. Each member of my knitting group has selected a project that she considers a personal challenge, because it requires us to do something we have never done before. I’ve never done any double knitting, so that is my challenge.

Then I am thinking about my next lace project. I have the Order to Chaos Shawl pattern, or I just got the Gathering of Lace book and there are a bunch of projects in that one…

My grandmother taught me how to knit socks many many years ago, and recently passed away. My mom never learned how to knit socks (I’m trying to teach her though) and hand knitted socks are always incredibly special to her, so I try to make her a couple of pair a year.

Oh, hexagons! I may have a little hexagon problem. I’ve just started a quilt out of hexies, and I want to knit a blanket, too. I have a pattern that explains how to knit hexies in a modular fashion, so that you join the new one on to the previously-knit shapes so there is no endless seaming to be done to put the blanket together. And I am going make a blue and orange Chevron Scarf for my sister the Gator out of the Loopy Solid Series yarn that is on it’s way to me. I’m binding off socks right now, I have to put the neckband on my Mondo Cable Pulli, and then I’m allowed to cast on the new stuff.

Got some socks on the needles that I need to finish, but instead I’m thinking of “accidentally” casting on for a sweater for my girl. Saw Blossom (at http://www.knittingatknoon.com/FSblossom.html) and thought it looked adorable so that will probably be my next knit.
Then I need to knit a basic hat/scarf set for myself. My head and neck get too cold in the winter, and when fall rolls around, I never knit for myself. I thought summer might be the perfect time to try to knit for me this year. We’ll see.

Then I have socks with memories.
2nd on my knit list, I think finishing my crocheted 1 huge granny square blanket. My grandmother was just diagnosed with lung cancer and has been very worried about the upcoming hair loss. While my mother and her picked out a wig, she wants a red hat. So after I finish the LSU skinny shawl (using the Gaenor pattern) for her head, I am going to knit her a red hat. Also a blue one. Woot!

I’ve got two pairs of socks started. One on two circs in discontinuted Sockcotta and two on one circ in ArtYarns. Both aren’t much beyond the toe – I knit two up.
I got tired of getting to work having forgotten a sock project and discovering I had a four hour meeting with a hundred people in a stuffy room with stuffier presentations. Now I keep one pair at work and one pair at home!
I’d love to buy Wollmeise, but have never been successful at being here – at Loopy Ewe or at her site in Germany when there is any for sale.

Next on my list is the Grand Estate Cardigan in some pearl grey Cashwool. I think it’ll be the perfect cardigan for the cold summer we’re having here. After that, I’m planning to knit a shawl again. I still haven’t decided on a pattern, though. I love Clothilde but I can’t find the perfect yarn for it. Perhaps that project will wait and I’ll do Citron instead. It’s been in my queue for a while and I have several colours of Malabrigo Lace to choose from in my stash

The most urgent ones though, are jumper for my hubby (4ply cotton = milion stiches and some) and Forest Path stole from Interweave book – awesome design of my favorite Estonian lace in alpaca/cashmere/silk mix super fine lace yarn. Those two have to be in that particular order, as I have a very demanding husband;)

Next, I plan to finish the socks I’m making out of Trekking XXL bamboo/wool blend using Cookie A’s traveling cubes sock design given as a free download from Knitting Daily. I just started one “knit next” project. I’m doing the Land of Oz shawl in a rare gems colorway of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Seduction that I just got at Black Sheep Gathering. I keep going back and forth about whether I want to do the Cassarah scarf or the Dancing Diamonds socks from the Loopy Lite club, so I’m still delaying on that! I also just finished a Tofu Tee, so I want to start another top. I’m considering Lace Saddle Tee from the last Interweave Knits. Of course, something else could jump out and inspire me!

My second project is the polar chullo for my son who is starting a new school next term, it is winter here in Australia, and we are moving to the country where the extremes make themselves felt more than in the city. Once I finish a spring/summer sweater for this KAL I was crazy to join, I will be doing a couple of helmet liners for a coworker who has been recalled to active duty. She will be going to the Kuwait region. Maybe the Multnomah will be next in line (after a few other UFO’s are finished!!).
Sheri the shawl is beautiful!! I can only dream of finishing that fast.

Plus I need to make a few hats, and I’ve acquired a skein of butter yellow 220 courtesy of TLE via BFF Liz which is going to become a scarf. (Funny. Inordinate amounts of the yarn for these projects has come from TLE….

And then there’s the “going home” blanket (requested by my son) that I want to crochet…I crocheted before I learned to knit. On top of that, I have more booties to make to match another crib blanket and then a third baby blanket which is TBD. All in 2 months! Yikes!!! What am I doing on the computer???

I want to make another Shetland wedding ring shawl in hopes that it will bring me another grandchild, but the very next thing I want to make are a pair of toe-up socks using German twisted stitches. Can we only have two? Then a Faroe shawl, then a ‘Russian warm (Orenburg) shawl’, than sets of matching mittens, neck-warmers, and caps for friends, then socks with yellow duckies on the heel flap to wear with clogs, and then and then and wow, when?!

He’s 40 but like one of our children. You could say we adopted him illegally. He’s a real pet. There’s no end, is there? And I’m so glad of that. The socks are especially important because they are a thank to the sister of a close friend who gave me a small painting from the artist, Tasha Tudor, that I was coveting. Just gave it to me. I’d like to start a winter hat in Cascade 220 (Cerise and Tutu, hot fuschia and pale pink), but with the temps in the 90′s in Philadelphia, I will likely stick with lace knitting– a Citron looks so tempting, and if I can knit it while on my daily commute, even better! Maybe some toe-up socks as a second project, again for the minimal pattern requirement for my commute though I’ve found I can use the transit card “clips” on the rail car seats to hold my pattern. Right now, I’m knitting a Traveling Woman with skinny Bugga! and it’s lots of fun.

I just found out that one of my best friends is preggers so that is the perfect excuse to knit at least one baby sweater right away. Congratulations on learning to crochet! That is awesome! Do you have some more crochet patterns that are screaming, “Make me!” at you? I like crochet, but I prefer quick projects that work up in a couple of days.

I just started an Ishbel in Madtosh pashmina and have a ball of Madtosh sock yarn in Posy. I frogged it at least four times because I’m having pattern trouble. I did do Madtosh sock in Plum Tree and used the Braided Gem pattern (thanks, Sheri) so I think I might try that again because it’s tried and true. My next two projects are socks, socks and more socks! I like to give each member of my immediate family something hand knit every Christmas. Ususally socks. This past Christmas I decided to make something different instead of socks. There were hats, scarves, ishbels and mittens made. I was knitting frantically through November and December because I’m a procrastinator!! On Christmas morning when everyone opened their presents I waited with anticipation on their reaction….there was silence…..I finally asked my sister don’t you like your present? The reply……”I was looking forward to my new pair of socks. You always make socks for Christmas. We all look forward to seeing what socks you made us and wearing them for the next year”. Lesson learned….knit socks as presents for family…..why change a good thing…..apparently I’ve started an annual tradition with my knitting.

I’ve got to stop agreeing to projects unless I find out what the yarn is in advance! Oh well, the spinning will be good therapy to see me through the pillow.

My husband’s nephew just found out he’s going to be a daddy this fall. I’m going to knit a baby blanket for the happy couple in their chosen colors. I’m not sure what yarn yet because I need to ask them if they have a preference (no wool, washable, etc.). And, as usual, I’m going to be starting another pair of socks – toe-up this time. I find the idea very intriguing and useful for some yarns with shorter yardage. We’ll see how this goes.

Travelling Rose Scarf is next on the list of things for me, but a friend wants me to knit an 8-bit pattern onto a hat for him (I’m thinking I may attempt to do it as a fair-isle since it’s only 3-4 colors? I’ve not done fair-isle, so I will need to look up some patterns to get ideas).
But, I also just picked up Wendy’s book and am eyeing all those sock patterns, so a sock may win over the previously stated “next projects”

my next to knit list should be finishing up one of my many projects for my daughter, but, the doll sweaters keep getting in my way. just started a cable sweater out of skinny bugga for BJD boy doll, but I need to get back to a shawl I started for my daughter, dragon of happiness by Sharon Winsauer. This is in Wollmeise lace in dark amethyst, I know, I miss the updates, and paid dearly for the yarn on ebay so back to that neglected shawl as soon as the doll sweater is finished, and, I mow the field of weeds that is my lawn. no comfort in that, knitting is my comfort food. – Barb

I makes for a beautiful effect. AND I need to cast on some socks because I have none on my needles at the moment! Probably plain vanilla socks — not too exciting. These both may be bumped by some red yarn by Tempted that is on its way to me. Once I see it, all other projects may get dropped. I don’t know what I am going to make with it yet!

Oh, your Citron look BEAUTIFUL!
My next two to-knit projects are 1) a pair of Spring Forward socks for myself out of Skinny Bugga in “Differential Grasshopper”, and 2) a Clothilde shawl out of Wollmeise 100% in Kurbis

My next two projects are a tea cozy from Really Wild Tea Cozies, any really as I think my kitchen full of them would look awesome and a little neck warmer scarf in noro yarn. I think I’m needing colours that are bright and cheery as its winter here.
I think the lovely new colours you’ve released Sheri would be great for my tea cozies!

The next two things on my list (at least as of right now…the list is constantly in flux!) are the Norwegian Woods shawl by Sivia Harding, and some “plain vanilla” socks made from yarn in my stash, probably either Sundara sock or GothSocks. Fun to read all the comments and see what other folks are planning!

My next two projects are a beaded shawl (I’d like to try the shawl from the Knitters Book of Wool) and a pair of socks (Embossed Leaves). I already have the yarn for both, but need the beads for the shawl. I think the new Loopy yarn looks delicious by the way.

My “knit next” list is much longer than just two. I will be working on dishcloths and hopefully a swallowtail while on my vacation in Germany and after that, the to-be-gifted Girasole that’s been on my ” knit next” list for almost a year now.

I haven’t started Summer of Socks yet, so now that I’m done with my Loopy Swap project, I need to start some socks! But which ones…

The next two things on my knit next list are actually 4 things. I’m going to knit a hat and two bibs for the soon to be baby of one my husband’s fellow firefighters. Then I plan to knit the Lace Capelet by Tanis Grey that was in the recent Vogue Knitting magazine.

I really want to make Annis from Mal Lace. My second project will either be a sock weight cardigan of my own design OR a pair of socks. The socks might win out if this heat doesn’t let up.

For some reason, I’m starting to knit baby booties. I think, after the HS graduation party a few days ago and 2 kids graduating in the last few weeks (from HS and college), I am absolutely whipped. I want something FAST to knit.
And I’m, of course, now ogling Citron. Going to go to the vast sock yarn collection or order something from Loopy (yes yes yes!). Dunno right now, am still exhausted, still in my jammies and it’s now 7pm!!!! oh my. Going to bathe and watch a movie. Hubby’s sishing up north..yeahhhhh..and HS boy is out and about..yeahhhh.

A lace shawl and a pair of socks are up next, but I’m still deciding exactly which pattern of each, while I finish the button band/edgings on two sweaters that are near completion.
