Free Anniversary Pattern for You
We’re still celebrating our anniversary month! Since not everyone can win Wednesday’s blog contest, we do have a gift for each one of you today. We’ve had pattern designer Debbie O’Neill (from Nutty Creations) design an exclusive anniversary pattern for us each year, and this year is no exception. The new pattern – Banyan Tree – can be found here on my blog page under the Free Patterns section. I love the pretty lacy “leaves” at the top, turning into cabled “roots” going down into the foot. You’ll find the pattern has instructions for three sizes of socks. It’s written top down and includes a chart. We hope you like it! The design reminds me of all of the growth that has gone into The Loopy Ewe over the past five years, thanks to all of you and your support. We couldn’t do this without you and we promise to bring you fun new things and continued growth in the next five years, too. In the meantime, enjoy our fifth anniversary pattern!
I tried a new recipe this week and wanted to share it with you. So easy, so pretty, and so fun for summer.
1 tube of slice and bake sugar cookies
(or your favorite sugar cookie recipe)
1 (8 oz) box of cream cheese
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 Tbl. frozen lemonade concentrate
fresh fruit
Slice and bake the cookies and then let them cool completely.
Whip together the cream cheese, sugar and lemonade concentrate until smooth. Spread some on each cookie and top with fresh fruit slices.
Note – you can make up the cookies and cream cheese ahead of time, but don’t spread the cream cheese mixture onto the cookies until about an hour or two before serving. Refrigerate until serving.
We have winners to announce for our Camp Loopy Project One participants! We had 754 photos uploaded, which still astounds me. Such gorgeous work. The Reader’s Choice Award goes to Shannon for her Starlight Shawl. Then we used the random number generator to pick four more winners and they are: Tami (Camp Loopy Daybreak), Debbie (Camp Loopy Project #1 Deer Cape), Elizabeth (Camp Loopy Project 1) and Jennifer (Taygete). Each of the winners has received a $25 Loopy Ewe credit and I know they’ll use it well.
Have a great weekend. I’ll be working on my Project Three throw. How about you?

I am making tremendous progress on The Magic Shawl. Almost 100 rows out 160 knit. Granted it is garter stitch and eyelets rows which make it dead simple, but I am still surprised at how quickly it is knitting up. I expect things to slow down when I have more than 300 stitches on the needles however, but that is several days off.
Have a grea weekend.

Thanks for the free sock pattern!
I’ll have to try the cookie recipe too – looks like a great way to sneak in some fruit for the kiddos.
how will I be spending my weekend? I’ll be working on my project #3 of course, entertaining my sister and her husband who are visiting, cleaning, enjoying a picnic at church in the 101+ degree weather on Sunday and trying to get by 7 year ready for back to school on Monday. Should be a lot of fun!
I’m enjoying the switch from knitting to crocheting again – I usually try and rotate projects. having a deadline has allowed me to focus on finishing instead of just starting and getting distracted with something else pretty -thanks for helping me to stay loyal to my WIP!
Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing and cool weekend.

The Starlight Shawl is wonderful. I might have to add that to my list of things to make for next year. This year is unusually full!

I love the sock pattern, thank you. I hope to make lots of socks this fall and winter, and these will be at the top of my list.

Love the sock pattern but could not get the twisted stitches to line up unless you move a stitch from back needle to front before starting row 1. The traveling twisted stitch attracted me to this pattern, and was disappointed to find this error. Or, am I wrong? Not posted on revelry yet because pattern is nt there yet.

Yes, BMiller, thank you! I had Debbie recheck and she has added a note to Rav and we have updated the pattern here. It should read: Round 1 of the twisted ribbing should read * P1, k1tbl; repeat from * to end of round.

Thank you so much for the sock pattern! Another one to add to my favorites! Happy Fifth! I so love all you do and the way you do it all!

My apologies for the sock pattern error — even with tech editing, mistakes sadly happen. For those of you who have already started, you can also just shift the start of your round by one stitch by working the first stitch on needle 1 onto needle 3.

Thanks so much for the new sock pattern! I’m working fast on my baby afghan because I want to make sure I have enough time to finish it in time. I’m also trying to work on two cardigans and another cape/shawl.

Thanks for the cookie recipe! Sounds easy AND yummy!
And thanks for the sock pattern – can’t have too many socks!
Ahem! Any chance Sharon will be dyeing up more Columbine? Pretty please – with cookies on it?
