I’m Thankful For …
…. so many things! But I’ll give you the ones that (mostly) relate to The Loopy Ewe:
1. I’m thankful for all of YOU. We would have no business without you. You keep us on our toes, and you make stocking the shop fun. You’re at the top of our list and we’re always happy to have you here.
2. The indie dyers who trust us to represent and showcase their beautiful lines. Such talent in that group, and we’re grateful to share their art with you.
3. The “big” yarn companies who are so wonderful to work with. (Big is in quotes because even though they are big, most all of them work hard to be personal and friendly in all of their dealings.)
4. Coffee and chocolate. There might be a little stress going on with this cross-country December move of ours, and coffee and chocolate are helping. (I know that I should say knitting is helping, too, but my knitting time is going to be limited for a bit….). Coffee and chocolate are staples in our Loopy kitchen.
5. The St. Louis Loopy Elves. They’re forever a part of the Loopy family (meaning their impact here will last forever, but it also means that they get a Forever Loopy Employee Discount, and a forever free place to stay when they want to visit Colorado in the future. Also? A forever job if they realize that they’re tired of the St. Louis humidity next summer and want to move to the mountains. I keep hoping.).
6. The moving company that will be taking all of Loopy’s earthly possessions and driving it cross-country in a week or so. If you see a bright yellow Exodus moving van in Missouri/Kansas/Colorado the first weekend in December, you might want to ambush it and plunder the yarn. (On second thought, don’t plunder. Let’s make sure it arrives safe and sound in one piece.)
7. Your patience. I know you don’t like No-Update Mondays. I don’t either. But we are stockpiling a bunch of great yarn for our first post-move December update here in Colorado, on the 12th!
8. Stash enhancing. Ok – beyond the coffee and chocolate stress busters, I’m also picking yarn to add to my stash. I might not be able to knit for a bit, but I can still dream about future projects in wonderful colors. And I do have cases and cases of yarn sitting at my house, waiting for your next Monday Update. What’s a knitter to do?
9. The Colorado Loopy Elves. They know they have a lot to live up to (because they know you all love the St. Louis Elves) but they are ready for the challenge. I promise you, they are bringing their own kind of awesome to The Loopy Ewe. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
10. A long holiday weekend with my family. Nothing is as refreshing as spending time with the people I love the most. I hope you’re doing the same!
In honor of my Top Ten Gratitude List, we’re giving away 5 prizes. I’ve picked out 5 skeins from 5 different indie dyers and we’ll pick five winners. Will you be one? Leave a comment and let us know what you’re thankful for, even if you’re not celebrating an official Thanksgiving holiday this week! Prize winners will be announced on Friday’s blog (where we’ll have another Gratitude Week giveaway).
We have five winners of a copy of the Skinner Hat from Monday’s blog, and I’ve emailed the winners. Congratulations to Analiese in NY, Anna in WA, Lael in WI, Sarah in AL and Lisa in VA!
Sheri wishingthoseintheU.S.aHappyThanksgiving!
(P.S. So that the Loopy Elves can enjoy a long weekend with their own families, we won’t be shipping orders today, Thursday and Friday. You can still place orders 24/7, and we’ll ship them out on Monday and Tuesday of next week.)

I am thnkful for friends, family, health, etc…all that stuff that people always say. But when it really comes down to it, I am very, very thankful for a job that I love. I’ve had jobs that I hated, jobs that haven’t been the right fit, and jobs with horrid bosses. I currently have a job that provides me with enough time to play, enough money to be comfortable, and a sense of purpose and fulfillment. For that – I am incredibly thankful.

Oh gosh, there are too many things to be thankful for these days. A long weekend, my wonderful husband, a stash of yarn and fiber that is almost big enough to be embarrassing to tell people about, the ability to go back to college in my thirties…
I think the real question would be what not to be thankful for. It would be much harder to come up with answers for that.

I have so much to be thankful for this year. I am thankful that I have a happy, healthy daughter. Born 12 weeks early in Dec 2008, out of town, and only weighing 2 lbs 12 ozs. She had heart surgery 2 weeks after her birth and today you would never know that she was early. She loves to play with my knitting needles and go to all the LYS with mommy. She counts to 50 in English, and to 10 in both Spanish and German. I have an amazing husband who understnads that if I don’t get an hour to run everyday and an hour to knit everyday that I am not the best wife, mother, or person that I can be. I have an amazing job that allows me to explore different cultures and traditions. I have amazing friends that understand all my obsessions and humor me with them. I am thankful that I found The Loopy Ewe and for the elves. I am so thankful for the freedom that we have as a country and for those that have fought for that freedom. Okay I think I hit everything. Simply put I am Thankful to be here.

I am thankful for my wonderful husband who tolerates although not completely understands the the concept of a yarn stash, my awesome two children ( my daughter is a next generation knitter as well) and my extended family. I am also thankful for the internet. Online retailers such as yourself, Ravelry and Youtube have done so much for me in the progress of my knitting. I have done so much more with the opportunity to see and interact with others. Knitting is no longer a solitary occupation.

I am thankful that my youngest son is home this week for his Fall Break from his university far up north. I’m thankful that my oldest son and his GF will be coming up to spend Thanksgiving with us. And I’m thankful for our two dogs, and my oldest son’s little dog (who has been living with us for the last year). I’m not sure where Toby will end up, but I think he’s better off up here with us because: he’s most used to us; I’m home all day and my other two dogs are playmates for him; we, knock on wood, don’t have an outbreak of a very serious strain of leptospirosis, unlike metropolitan Detroit; and my son likes to go places on the weekend, and poor little Toby gets carsick. Our trips are mostly day trips, so Toby will be better off with us in the long run. In summary, I’m thankful for my family, of both the 2-legged and the 4-legged varieties.

I am thankful to be flying home from Colorado to see my family and spend Christmas and New Year with them. It was a year full of ups and downs and nothing brings me back to center like lots of hugs and great food shared with my family.
I am also thankful to have the means to give them an entirely hand-knit and crochet holidays! My yarn stash runneth over this year, and I fear (but in a good way) that it will continue due to your relocation to Colorado. Yay!!!
Happy Thanksgiving, All!

My very warmest wishes to a safe and successful relocation. I love Colorado. I lived there some 40 years ago and only once in a while get out there. In fact my husband proposed to me up in the mountains near Grand Junction. It truly is God’s Country.

I am thankful for many things, but most especially to the men and women of our Armed Forces, who are out there paying the price for our freedom. While I grouse about how hard the Army is working me as a civilian, it does not compare to being in Afghanistan or Iraq with a 50-pound pack on my back, being shot at or blown up! Please keep these fine folks in your thoughts and prayers this Thanksgiving and every day!

I’m also thankful for a clean fridge. It was a science experiment in there.

First and foremost, I am very thankful for my family. I am thankful that I have a job when so many don’t (when will this ecomony get better already!). I am thankful for the joy and peace that knitting brings to me. I am thankful for a great group of friends. My wish is that everyone were as lucky to have so much to be thankful for this day.

I am thankful, oddly enough, that Germany doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving. I realized at 11pm Wednesday night that I didn’t have any pie plates. Pumpkin pie and apple pie are the epitome of Thanksgiving and, being far from our family, the pies are imperative to a nondepressed Thanksgiving Day. Because German stores are not closed today, I was able to buy some pie plates and make some delicious pie.

I am also so thankful that my dog is okay after being seriously ill throughout the summer (starting directly after my cousin’s death).
In addition, I am quite thankful for everyone associated with the Loopy Ewe (Sheri, the Elves, the awesome people in the Loopy Groupie group on Ravelry) as I simply could not enjoy knitting as much without the positivity and fun.

In 2010 several tragdies occurred. I lost my home. My mom passed away. And I injured my leg so badly that it looked that if I was ever able to walk again that it would be with excurtiating pain.
I am thankful beyond words to have a warm cozy house for me and my family to live in. To have almost fully regained use of my leg without the pain that was a possibility. (I’m not running marathons but I could walk most of one I think.) And all my wonderful brothers and sisters and their extended families that my mother instilled in us all the true meaning of Family.
It could have been so much worse and yet I am thankful and feel incredibly lucky fir all the gifts I’ve received this year.
