Happy Graduation!

I’ve been out of town for a week, but am now back in Colorado. We all went to Knitting Daughter’s college graduation in Indiana last weekend! Here’s a photo of her being congratulated by her brother (aka: Web Guy). I cannot believe how quickly those four years flew by. It seems like I was just talking about her going off to school and now she has diploma in hand.

She’s back here in Colorado with us for a little bit, while she job hunts for something in her field (marketing and media communications). I have a long list of projects for her at Loopy in the meantime. :-)

We drove her car down to St. Louis after graduation and spent a couple of days there, seeing friends. I had lunch with the St. Louis Elves. It was so great to see all of them. I miss them! Here’s a picture of Susan (my St. Louis Office Manager) with her cute grandson Carter. Susan gets to watch him and his sister Lulu 3 days a week and is loving the time with them.

After a couple of days in St. Louis, we headed west to Colorado. We were waylaid in Lawrence, Kansas by a faulty hose that leaked all of the coolant out of the engine area, causing overheating. We were a day late getting home, but everything ran smoothly after we had that dumb hose replaced.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Sunday is Starting Day for Project One of Camp Loopy! I can’t wait to work on my new Color Affection Shawl. I’ll show you the first one I finished, next week. I have to wash and block it. ¬†We’ll be closed on Monday for Memorial Day, but we’ll have a regular Monday Update for you, so watch for it!

Are there more great three color shawl patterns out there? I thought that picking two color shawls was fun, but three is even better.

  1. Congratulations on knitting daughter’s graduation. Beautiful picture of your children. Sorry about the car troubles, but glad you had a wonderful time despite it….Good Luck finding a job, but I am sure you will succeed very quickly and Loopy will always need you. Enjoy all the celebrations !!

  2. I thought you would be needing a break for graduation one of these weeks. Congratulations to graduate (and the rest of the family supporting her). My son officially finished all of his degree requirements in Dec and is still in job hunt mode for something in his field and currently working at a ‘job to help pay living expenses’. I am sure Loopy Campers will keep all your CO elves and KD busy this summer.

  3. Congratulations to Knitting Daughter! I got my bachelor’s in Indiana (Communications) and my master’s at the University of Kansas (Journalism) in Lawrence, so I know both places well!

  4. Congratulations on the graduation for Knitting Daughter! Next time you get waylaid in Lawrence (if it happens again!), you’ve got to let us know somehow. Those of us in KC will shower you with opportunities to make fun use of your time.

  5. Wilbur Chocolate Buds – they’re wonderful. My Mom’s favorite and she had to have a box every birthday. My dad took us all to the factory so Mom could go on the tour. It’s a nice area to visit but the chocolate’s better to eat :-) Congratulations to your daughter on her graduation!!

  6. Congrats to Knitting Daughter! Good luck to her in finding a position! Your son is great at being web guy! So glad you made it safely back to CO. Car troubles stink.

  7. Congrats to Julia!
I have Stephen West’s Earth and Sky which is 3-colors in my queue. It was a mystery KAL and I cannot imagine what color selection was like when you hadn’t seen the project. I bought my pattern after KAL was finished so knew what it looked like.

  8. If you’re going to be stranded somewhere, Lawrence is not a bad place to be! I hope you had a chance to eat at the Free State Brewery while you were there. I dream about their black bean quesadilla. Yum!

Congratulations to Julia! If she’s looking for marketing/communications positions in Colorado, http://www.andrewhudsonsjobslist.com is the best place to look.

  9. Congratulations to Knitting Daughter and to her wonderful parents, too! Quite an accomplishment to be proud of! Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend and here’s hoping Everyone stays safe! Cheers from the Land of Oz!

  10. Congratulations!!! They do grow up fast. Best of luck with the job hunting.
Very excited about Camp Loopy. The yarn is ready, the needles are warmed up.
Have a fun and restful holiday weekend.

  11. Congratulations to knitting daughter and good luck with the job search. Time lately has a way of just disappearing.

Glad to hear the trip was relatively trouble free. Can’t wait for Sunday.

  12. Such lovely kids!!! Thanks for sharing with us!

Funny thing, I have a Color Affection blocking today too! All ready to cast on something new for camp in the morning…,

  13. Congratilations Knitting Daughter!!!! I wish you all the best in your new life!!
Congratulations to the proud parents and briother too!!!

  14. I am doing Earth & Sky by Stephen West. I am using Sanguine Gryphon Bugga: Yellow, Beyer’s Jewlel Scarab and Gardina Hawk Bee. It actually is becoming a four color shawl because I threw in some Fireopal. I am using that just at the beginning and the end…I think ;-) I’m so glad Camp started!!!! I was chomping at the needles to get started-I love SGB yarn and couldn’t wait to see how it would look in my “Sun and Garden” (aka: Earth & Sky)!!!!!

  15. Congratulations to your daughter! It really does seem that you were just talking about her going off to college !!!

  16. Congratulations to your daughter-that is an accomplishment which deserves applause!
Loving the bib on Susan’s grandson-too funny :)

  17. Wow – I can’t believe Julia is already through with college! Congrats to you all and best of luck with the job search!!
