I’m glad you had a great trip! I grew up on that lake and spent my high school/college years as a camp counselor there. Thanks for featuring my hometown! I miss it!

I am so glad you enjoyed your trip to Alabama! It is a lovely place. The botanical garden is a treasure that more people need to know about and Smith lake has been a vacation spot for families all over the state! The weather was a bit cool last weekend for this time of year but still lovely.

My late Mother-In-Law had 3 dear girlfriends – they had all become friends during their training days at Teacher’s College. They determined, soon after they graduated, to preserve their friendship and to go away for a weekend retreat every year. They did this each year during the 60+ years of their friendship, only stopping as they became too frail, in their 80′s to make the journey any more, and one by one they have passed on. We often heard about Mum’s weekend away with “the girls” – Enid, Ellen & Marjorie! Happy memories! Truly, friends are a marvelous blessing to possess.

I’ll admit that my week while you were on vacation was possibly the worst week ever. I spent a lot of time window shopping at TLE, because if I had bought all of the things I’d been even remotely interested in I would have been broke enough to not get back home. Now that I’m back home, the urge for some gentle retail therapy hasn’t really left. I’m looking forward to that introduction to a new Indie designer on Wednesday. I have to buy yarn for a hooded scarf for a friend.

Aww how fun! I am from Denver – not far from the “new” TLE location, my family now lives in KC – not far from the “old” TLE location, and I now live in Alabama not far from your lake vacation spot! LOL At least you had some nice the Alabama autumn weather while you were down here!
