I flew on a plane this week to visit my sister. There was a baby in the row behind me. When the man in front of me reclined so that his head was practically in my lap, I restrained from reclining, so the Mom and child would have a wee bit of room. I could have been more comfortable, but it was a nice secret RAK for the young Mom.

On Wednesday I send a package filled with baby clothes to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to help teenage mothers. It was fun shopping for baby things. It really makes me feel good to be able to help others!

I met someone on Ravelry and we had e-mailed each other a few times. She was in a bad car accident and totaled her car and had no way of getting a car to get to work. I was going to sell my car and get a new one but when I realized that this person needed a car, I gave her my car so that she had transportation back and forth to work.

A no-kill shelter here helped me by taking six kittens so I gifted them with 400 lbs of kitty litter!

I usually support a local family for Christmas, providing gifts and money. This year, it’s unfortunately a family member who lost their job and are expecting a baby. I’ve sent money, so they can decide where best to spend it and I’m buying everything on their baby list for the new arrival. It’s been fun shopping for a baby.

Today I packed 50 baby, children’s books and a box of toys to ship on Monday to Wanblee, SD on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation. I frequently send things here–the Natives have so little and need everything. Costs me some money but I feel so much better donating their than I do when I donate to a local non-profit.

I donate money and food to our church food bank. And my husband helps elderly neighbors with tasks they can no longer do. We both help others thru our church. Love your online store. Thank you.

I thought I left this entry the other day but I must have posted it to the wrong place. I went through my stash this past week and got together a box of yarn to be donated to a group of charity knitters in Gloucester VA.

This week was drop off extra yarn good for hats or scarfs and knitting patterns that some of my fellow seniors might enjoy my local senior center. There is a knitting group there and all enjoy different yarns to work with and patterns to look at (or use). Add to that a few hats that I make during the year that go to the Morgan Memorial drop off centers. It is cold in the North East, every can use an extra hat or scarf.

I know a single mom who is trying to raise two young boys on a very small salary. Father doesn’t provide support. I know they love anything “cammo” so I bought cammo yarn and knitting them hats and matching scarves. Then I bought them heavier dark green cammo gloves to help keep their hands warmer when they stand outside waiting for the school bus. We had freezing rain this morning…2-hour delay for schools. My husband said…here they come…no hats, etc. So my Golden and I went to greet them and their mom. I told the boys I made them something and they were so thrilled. She was stunned and said no one ever did that for us. I handed her a bag and gave her an infinity scarf and matching hat I made for her…not cammo but in a pretty shade of blue. She cried and so did I. To think how little meant so much. She is too proud to go to the food bank but I called and am working out an “anonymous” Christmas basket to be delivery to them…everything she needs for a great Christmas dinner.
