Do You Need to Get Away? (CONTEST!)
Because it’s February (the month of love – and you know we love you!) and in honor of our first Colorado Loopy Ewe Spring Fling coming up, we thought it would be fun to give away a spot at our Spring Fling for a contest this month. Not only that, but if you win, you get to pick a friend to bring along with you. We saved a spot for them, too! You cover the cost of getting yourself to the hotel (by plane, train or automobile), and we’ll provide you both with the Fling weekend package for free. (Pop on over to this blog post to see what is included in the Fling weekend package.) If you have already signed up for a spot at the Fling, you’re still eligible to enter the contest and get your Fling package for free for you and a friend. We don’t want to leave you out. The Spring Fling dates are April 18-21, Thursday evening through Sunday morning.
So do you need a weekend away with your best buddy? Would you like to hang out with a bunch of great knitters, visit Loopy Central, take a class, get a goodie bag and relax all weekend? If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment below and tell us you’d like to attend and who you want to bring along with you. We’ll use the random number generator to pick someone next week and will report back with a winner. It’s going to be a great weekend!

I would love to win this. Coming to Fling but this would give me more money for yarn. I would love to have my roomie, Janice, win with me. (I am thinking about Fling knitting projects but my biggest problem is figuring out what knitted items to bring to show off).

Oh man, do I need to get away! I’m not sure who I would bring with me, probably one of us on the Groupies forum

Would I love a spring fling weekend?? YES!!! You have the best fiber, best notions, best service, best activities such as Camp Loopy, and the best treats!! Best, best, best!! I would love to bring my daughter but she doesn’t knit…at least not yet…I tried to teach her when she was younger but maybe a weekend trip would do the trick!! Loopy, you’re the greatest!

I’d love to have a knitting getaway and meet Sheri and the Loopy Crew! I haven’t had a “real” vacation in years. I’d have to bring my cyber-friend Eileen. We’ve been “talking” via the internet since the Turn of the Century but she lives on the West Coast and I live on the East Coast, so we’ve never met in person. Plus she got me hooked on knitting.
Ellen said,

wow! What a great give-away! You have brightened my whole day just letting me dream about this
This is just another reason I love The Loopy Ewe!
Hmmm… who would I bring? I would probably offer it to my sister, Paula, first. If she couldn’t go I would bring one of my knitting buddies from my Sunday afternoon coffee/knit hour. Now I’m off to daydream about Colorado and Spring Fling….Ellen

I would love to win. I’ve never been to CO – was lucky enough to go the St. Louis but that’s as far west as I’ve been. Would love to take my mom with me for a “girls weekend” after my dad’s upcoming knee surgery – we will both need some time away!
Thanks for having such a great contest!

What an awesome giveaway! I’d love to come! If I won, I would find a way to fly in my bff in Illinois, and we could meet up in CO for a yarnfest supreme. We always talk knitting together, but never get time to actually knit together, seeing as we’re a thousand miles apart or so.

My friend, Martha, and I attended one of the Spring Flings in St. Louis and had a great time! She is going to move to Florida this year and then it will be even harder to get together and knit. So, a trip to the Spring Fling in Colorado would be a great way to do something together before she moves!

What a wonderful idea. thank you so much for giving us this oppurtunity. I’d love to attend this Spring Fling in Colorado. Never been to Colorado and had so much fun at the Spring Fling in St Louis in 2012. I’m retired now living on Social security so I did not sign up for this year. But If I were to win, I’d Bring my friend Michelle. We both came together last time and I know that she would really love to come again this year.

I would love to win this, and I’d bring my mother along with me. She taught me to knit when I was a young mother, but we both put yarn and needles aside to do quilt making. Now we’re back into knitting, and we fight over skeins of yarn rather than fat quarters of fabric. She wants to learn to make socks, and every attempt I’ve made to teach her has ended in failure for both of us. Maybe she’d get the hang of it with a different teacher?

I’d bring my very best friend. We met cross-country via Rav, and then we lived very near to each other in her home city for two years, before I moved back east and she moved even farther west (all the way to the coast for both of us… there’s an entire continent between us now!) I’d love to bring my college roommate, and still best friend…she’s a crocheter, and doesn’t play with yarn as much as I do, but she’s always wanted to learn how to knit and I think she’d get just as much of a kick out of the weekend!

Oh boy, wouldn’t I love to come to the Spring Fling! I haven’t had a vacation since I came to your very first Fling in St. Louis 5 (?) years ago. The last time I was in Colorado I hitchhiked there with college boyfriend…1977? I remember seeing the CO River and standing on the Continental Divide…!
If I were so lucky to come, I would bring one of my two sisters, whomever is available. Both knit, and both love to travel!
Thanks for the chance!

However, I would love to bring one of my friends from knitting group – she’s a hoot and she knits the greatest socks. And she makes me laugh so much, I forget that I miss my best friend! Thanks for the opportunity!

I would love to come to Spring Fling because I never have before, I’d love to see TLE in real life and Fort Collins is one of my favorite places in the world. I desperately need a vacation away from this challenging -these-days-and-I-don’t-know-why life of mine!
I know just the person I would bring with me…my friend Ruby, because she is the definition of a true friend – and she knits! She dropped everything with one day’s notice and drove six hours down and then back with me to rescue some items from my mom’s house that are valuable only to me before my brother threw everything out.
Thanks again!

Wow Sheri… you are incredibly generous.
I’m not sure who I’d bring. I have three candidates… two are friends who have children so I know it might be hard for them to get away… Elspeth who was my first friend in my new home here (and has 3 boys so REALLY deserves some time off), DeAnna, my bestest friend from my old home whom i love like a sister and would love to spend some quality time with, or my mother, who used to knit but doesn’t really know and I’d love to inspire her to get back into it (also to get some quality girl time…she’s retired now and I don’t think she’s spent any time on her own in a while).
I’ve already got a spot, for which I’m grateful, and I look forward to spending my birthday with a bunch of Loopy Groupies
It’d be just *that* much more special to spend it with a close friend.

I would bring my son along just for the visit, but I’d pick my sister to come to with me to Spring Fling. I love you and the Loopy Ewe too, Sheri! I would really really really love a nice relaxing weekend at Fling (not to mention the opportunity to get back to the state I lived in when I was very very small). I know who I would like to bring with me if I could because she really deserves the chance to go to Fling and she’d love it but I don’t think she could get away from her responsibilities in order to go. So, if I have to say a particular person I think I will say I’d bring my daughter. She’s just getting into weaving so I would undoubtedly end up having to buy her a Cricket loom while we were shopping in the store but it would be a fun Mom/daughter weekend.

Going to the Spring Fling would be a huge adventure for my neighbor, who is my knitting buddy, and me. We live in Florida and the change of scenery in Colorado would be amazing, not to mention a great opportunity to wear all of the warm knitted items that we seldom get to wear here. (Not that I’m complaining, mind you!)

My friends-all non-knitters/weavers-had things planned from early morning to evening. Purpose of trip was to explore FC–to decide if I wanted to move there. And I do! If I win I would bring Judy–dear friend who lives 200 miles away

This would be better than winning the lottery!! The chance to run into The KnitGirllls,Aimee and other “Podcast Stars” plus get to meet you, Sheri??! Awesome! As others have said, this is a very generous prize. I don’t think TLE would ever be the same after I got done shopping there. I would have no problem choosing my best friend, Jan, to bring with me. She started out as my “needlework” friend when we moved up north a few years ago. She sucked me back into knitting after quite a few years away from it. Love her for it.

Her grandson has medical issues, so my friend stayed with him while her daughter was finishing her degree, and continues now while her daughter begins her career as a nurse in a busy hospital. So thankful to both of them for their patience and perseverance. And thankful to you for creating a wonderful online (and in person) community of knitters, from whom I have gained much inspiration and support in recent years.

I would love to join Spring Fling with my best buddy Kathy. We just had a ‘knitting retreat’ this past week for the first time, meeting half way between our two home cities, and just spending 5 days working on projects, sharing special yarn treats, discussing problems with patterns, and life in general. It was a terrific fun experience. More of the same would be great. We were both working on our Loopy Ewe 1rst Quarter projects too!

I’d love to come to the Spring Fling. My son is getting married the weekend before in San Antonio and it would be the perfect way to finish out an exciting, but very busy week! Plus I’ve always wanted to see Colorado! I’d bring my friend Karen .. who took knitting lessons from me ten years ago and we still travel and knit together when we are able

Hi Everyone that loves to knit in Colorado ( and the world),
It is not the trip to Colorado, BUT the expierence of knitting with like minded addicts…and the buying excursion to the Loopy Ewe….I am an advid sock knitter who believes good yarn, great colors, and and sitting and discussing everything knitting would be awesome!!
Count me in!! I already have my friend, Nancy, who is signed up and we are ready to be there on time!!
May all the good karma abound..

I have wanted to come to Spring Fling forever! (well, okay, as long as you’ve been holding them).
I would bring my dear friend Elizabeth, who introduced me to you, and who shares my passion for knitting, and for taking weekends off to enjoy knitterly adventures and “girl time” away from the stresses of family and work.
Oh please oh please! let it be us!

Oh, man. It would be a huge help to have my spot paid for! And I would love to be able to bring my friend Sarah along. We knew each other from our local knitting group before we both moved (at separate times) to a city with no LYS and no organized knitting group. It has been so nice to have someone to knit and spin with, to ooh and aah over new acquisitions with, to encourage each other through seemingly never-ending projects, and to just appreciate each others’ finished work as only another knitter/spinner can!

I would love to go! I would bring my sister. She lives in Texas and I am in Maryland. We don’t get to see each other often enough so this would be a perfect get away for us. We did a small retreat here in MD a few years ago and want to do it again … it was fabulous to be in the company of knitters for an extended time.
Congrats to whom ever wins!

I would love to go to Spring Fling ’13. I have never been to any sort of knitting activity, other than a few times at my old church to the prayer shawl group. I think it would be awesome to be with other people who have a passion for the same thing as I do! However, I don’t have any knitting buddies (I’m kind of a knitting loner). If selected, I would bring a “new friend”- her name is Elizabeth and I have recently gotten to know a bit about her through the new bible study I am attending (she needs this event more than I do as she has recently been diagnosed with clinical depression and an anxiety disorder) and she ALWAYS has her knitting with her! (I knit at home, mostly, but she carries hers everywhere!)
Adrienne said,

I’d love to come, but I don’t really have knitting buddies to bring (this would be my opportunity to make some, maybe?). I’d probably offer the 2nd spot back to Loopy to give away, or offer it up on the Groupies forum.

The Loopy Ewe used to be right here in St. Louis but since you moved, I can’t go to the store any more. I would like to bring my friend Judy Walker from California because she has been very ill and unable to go to very many places. She is undergoing eye surgery and will be able to see much better by the time of the Spring Fling. She is like a sister to me and we have never been to any events together. It would be simply fantastic to call my best friend, who I fondly call my “sister from another mother” and say, pack your bags because we’re going to The Loopy Ewe Knitter’ s Retreat, April 18-21 in Colorado. Don’t forget to bring a empty suitcase for all the knitting “goodies” we will most certainly bring back! All we have to do is pay our travelling expenses. But, I have two free airline tickets, so all we’ll need is our money for our knitting goodies and we’re there! Thank you for your generosity, Loopy Ewe.

OF COURSE I’d like to attend! The real stumper is, with whom?
If I could have my choice, I’d say… my friend Melinda. She’s a college buddy that I have kept in contact through her marriage and four kids. I sure hope she’d be available if I win!

I would love to join you all for Spring Fling! It sounds fun. I would bring my friend and knitting mentor, Colleen, who has encouraged and inspired me to try new techniques and projects.

I would love to come for the weekend but I am not sure which one of my friends I would bring! I have soo many fiber friends and I know that they would all like to come with me. I would just have to put the names in a hat and pull one out!

This is a great contest! I just couldn’t resist to enter. I would (hopefully) bring one of my knitting friends from Phoenix. I live in Chicago now and haven’t found my inner knitting circle of friends yet so this would be a great knitting reunion if sorts and a wonderful opportunity to meet more like-minded friends. Also since I’m a (relatively) new mom it would be an awesome excuse for some “me” time. Anyway good luck to everyone! Someone is going to win a fantastic prize!

How cool! I’d bring a friend who has been doing some intensive caregiving for an aging relative. She could use a break!

I would love to get back home (in MD now) and see my 93 yr old Grandpa who’s in Lakewood. I don’t know who I’d bring, it would depend on who could get away?

A weekend away? Do people actually do that? I know I have heard those words before but I always thought it was some figure of speech. I have 2 kids, a husband, a full time job+…
Now I have a wonderful co-yarnaholic friend who has 3 kids and also works full time+ I would have to bring her along so I have proof that this whole “weekend away” thing isn’t some figment of my imagination!

I would love to share this with a friend who has given me endless hours of knitting help and support. She has never expected anything in return. What a surprise for her this would be!!!

This trip would be fun to spend with my best friend “sister” who is in another state. Just to make up time to be with her and enjoy being together and of course we have so much fun shopping for yarn when we “do” get to be together. Plus we both need a vacation to just get away, she does not get to do much so this would be a way to let her have some fun.

I would love to win this for my Mom. She is awesome! She would probably take a knitting friend or Grammy. She learned to knit last year and is having a lot of fun doing it. This is so nice of you to give this away.

Wow! What a wonderful give-away! I’ve always been so envious of the folks able to attend the Spring Fling. It has just never worked out for me. If I could come, I’d probably try to bring my friend Rae. She is an excellent potter, but wanted to learn to knit. I’ve been teaching her some, but she’s still in the early stages. I think an event like this would really get her “hooked” on knitting!

Maybe being last is good…. or it might be too late! But I would sure love to Spring Fling with you all! I would bring my sister, who admires my knitting and should learn to knit herself!
Jill Krone said,

I, too, hope that I can still enter! My minister/husband just got out of the hospital after a 10 day stay. We followed that with a couple weeks of home IV treatments and continue to deal with his other health issues while serving 2 churches. What a treat this get-away would be. I would bring my adult daughter who knits and could use the trip as a thank you for helping with the animals and the house while her dad was ill.
