Fable Fibers, Loopy’s Celebrations, and Woolens

Song of the Sea Loopy CelebrationsHappy Monday to you! Did you catch both updates last week? In addition to last Monday’s Update, we also did an update on Thursday, where we added in Lorna’s Laces, Manos, Camp Loopy extras, Wollmeise, and Moda, Andover and Riley Blake fabrics. You can find into and sample colors on this blog post, if you missed it. This week, we’ll have Monday and Thursday updates again. Just up, you’ll find:

Loopy Celebration January The Loopy EweThe Loopy Ewe Celebrations line – a new 2014 addition here. Each month, we’ll have a different, exclusive color, celebrating something going on in the world that month, or that quarter. For our first color and our January Celebration, we decided to celebrate the return of Downton Abbey. One of my favorite characters on Downton is the Dowager Countess, and one of my favorite lines she had was, “What is a weekend?” (Imagine being so rich and out of touch that a weekend is simply another day in your week, no different from the rest. Wow.) We had Dream in Color dye up a royal purple semi-solid on their luscious Smooshy with Cashmere base in honor of the Dowager. We’ve named it “What is a weekend …. without knitting?” We will have this in stock until the supply is gone, so get it while you can. I used a skein of this to knit up a Song of the Sea cowl (seen above – click to make the photo bigger). I loved working with the yarn, and the pattern was simple and quick.

Fable Fibers The Loopy EweFable Fibers – Novel. This fingering weight yarn is 80% merino wool, 10% nylon, and 10% cashmere. The extra wonderful thing about Novel (besides the yarn base and colors) is that each skein is super-sized and has 600 yards. This makes it perfect for larger shawls or socks, and sweaters with less ends to weave in. Shown here in Denim, Manasquan and Davison Red.

Ultra Pima The Loopy EweCascade – re-stocked in 220, 220 Superwash, Superwash Sport, Fixation, Heritage Silk, Ultra Pima, Ultra Pima Fine, and Heritage Socks. (It’s good to see our shelves and pegs full again!) Shown here in Ultra Pima Pin Saphire, Coca and Teal.

Notions – Stork Scissors, Polka Dot Scissors, and some of the Soak Scents have been re-stocked for you.

mary-flanaganMary Flanagan Woolens – hand dyed woolens in Fat 16th’s and 4×5 combo sets. Each set is geared around one color, but comes with many hand-dyed underlying patterns in the wool. These are wonderful for wool applique, whether you’re making a wall hanging in all wool, or adding bits to a regularly pieced cotton quilt. We’ve also added in a selection of Mary’s patterns, to get you going. Also, check out the Little Red Hen and  Timeless Traditions Quilts patterns, in addition to our wool by the yard under the Moda line, here.

Have fun checking out tonight’s new things, and we’ll enjoy pulling your orders and sending them on their way to you tomorrow!

  1. Your cowl is absolutely beautiful, Sheri; The Dowager Countess, Smooshy, and Song of the Sea are the perfect combination! As soon as I saw the update email I had to keep F5ing until this gorgeous Celebration was available. I’ve placed my order and can’t wait to see this yarn in person!

  2. Love the cowl!!! Thank you for all the cascade, I have been waiting for the Alaska color for ever!!!!!
Applique quilting is the only thing I really like in quilting. Is very relaxing and soothing, just like knitting.

  3. Unfortunately, wool applique isn’t pnmy to learn it’s in my project stash, along with punch hookedwool rugs. Need more hours in the day.

  4. “What is a weekend?”
I believe that at that time “weekend” was strictly an American expression; the dowager countess might well never have heard it before.

  5. Yeah, not to be too much of a pedant, but it isn’t that the Countess is wealthy that makes “weekend” an unknown concept. It’s that the whole idea of a weekend was new, both in Britain and in the US.
