Bad News, Good News

DSC03529Bad News: It’s Monday, and all signs confirm that. Some Mondays are just like that.
Good News: I have a box of Thin Mints on my desk. Somehow that makes it better.

Bad News: I heard that fish commercial again during the Academy Awards.
Good News: The other Olympic commercial that I couldn’t get out of my head, is gone. In fact, I’m not even going to try to remember the song. Something about “live it, ride it, something something” – a car or jeep commercial? Not very effective if it annoyed me and now I can’t even remember what it was for.

Bad News: We had absolutely nothing (n.o.t.h.i.n.g.) planned for this past weekend.
Good News: Knitting Daughter came home for the weekend to surprise us! I’ve never been so happy for a free weekend. :-)

Bad News: I said I was going to knit on 3 different projects this weekend and I only knit on one.
Good  News: I had a lot of fun on the one!
Bad News: I seem to be unable to leave patterns well enough alone, and made some changes. It’s the non-sock pattern that was in this month’s Sock Club.
Good News: I think I like what I did, but time will tell.

DSC03533Bad News: Not a whole lot of new things going up in the Update tonight – it was a light week. But we have a new Zauberball-6 from Schoppel Wolle. Susan took a pink/green one to make a sweater for her cute granddaughter! Also, needle re-stocks (and Hiya Interchangeables again, as well as those cute Hiya project bags that sold out so fast), new Wendy Knits patterns, a Born to Knit pattern re-stock, more Hand Maiden Swiss Mtn. Sea Sock (we keep getting boxes of it, showing up!), and more Namaste re-stocks up. Come check out the new things here!
Good News: We’ll put a couple of batches of other things up this week as well.

Bad News, Good News

DSC02980Bad News: The house is quiet and Knitting Daughter is back up at college. sigh.
Good News: She and her friends looked pretty darned happy to be all back together again. That does make me feel better about the whole thing. A little.

Bad News: Remember these caramels that I blogged about a week or two ago? I tried two more things. The Chocolate Swirl Marshmallows and the Marzipan Caramel. Who knew that I liked the flavor of marzipan? YUM! And now I kinda think I “need” these special marshmallows every time I have hot chocolate. FPS.
Good News: They’re also great for just eating out of the bag. Not that I tried that or anything….

Bad News: I don’t know where this day went. (Well, yes I do. It went into getting massive amounts of boxes into the mail truck before the mailman arrived at 3:30. But boy did this day fly by.)
Good News: Since Knitting Daughter isn’t home and since WH is still working, I can stay far into the night to get things done. (Well, not far. But a few more hours, anyway.)

Bad News: No Sneak Up tonight.  I’ll be updating a few things like our supply of Knitspot patterns (including some new ones), and a few other things tomorrow.
Good News: No Sneak Up, but that doesn’t mean that no new yarn will go up. Do you get my drift? (That’s supposed to be a secret hint.)

DSC02976Bad News: Look at this purse that I got in the mail last week. Sharon – the one who designs these patterns made it for me! We met her at the Sock Summit and I happened to mention that I would love a Loopy purse, but I don’t crochet. The next thing I know, this arrived in the mail. It could not be more perfect. Why is this bad news? Because it’s one-of-a-kind and don’t you just want one?
Good News: It won’t be one-of-a-kind for very long. Sharon is going to write up the pattern for us to have here in the future. Woohoo! I’ll keep you posted.

Bad News: Our Anniversary month Blog Contests are over.
Good News: But we have five more winners from last week! Congratulations to Erin from IL, Sue from TN, Marianne from NC, Patricia from NY, and Traci in NV! It has been fun sending out gift packages from these contests. The other good news is that we do a blog contest every single month, and the September contest will be up in just a couple of weeks. I have a good question for you to answer in September.

Do you have any Good News/Bad News to share today? It’s Monday. Surely you do.

Good News and Bad News on Monday

Good News: I had a great birthday weekend!  Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments and well wishes in emails, on the blog, on Ravelry, and on Facebook. I don’t think I have ever been wished a Happy Birthday so many times. (And it did the trick – it was a nice day!)
Bad News: All of that birthday celebrating meant not a lot of Loopy work got done over the weekend. Ok, not ANY Loopy work got done over the weekend. Consequently, today has been overloaded with To-Do’s.

dsc02416Good News: We always have chocolate available here at The Loopy Ewe. Some of you have been here and seen the big wooden bowl of Loopy kisses, which is always filled.
Bad News: Not all of the chocolate that appears here is real. No matter how cute it is. (Oh, but seriously – don’t you just want to bite off those bunny ears? I wish it was real chocolate…)

Good News: We have most of the Sock Club boxes all packed up and ready to ship out, so watch for your email invoices in the next couple of days, if you’re in the Sock Club. There are so many boxes that we’re making a new wall divider here at The Loopy Ewe.
Bad News: All of the spots in our Sock Club are filled up for this year. (I know you knew that.  But I needed a “Bad” to go along with that “Good”.)

Good News: I did get the Sneak Up Snuck Up just now.  This week, check out: new 3 AM bags, Namaste Buddy Cases ( including our favorite Eggplant color), Dream in Color Smooshy, Fleece Artist 2/6 and Trail Socks, Wendy’s latest pattern (Catriona Knee Socks), Marie Mayhew’s latest pattern (Woolly Bunnies), Born to Knit patterns, and new Knitting Girl and Knitting Nerd Decals for your car.
Bad news:
This company doesn’t have any Knitting Guy decals available. At this point.

il_430xn9492406Good News: This cute red Mini Cooper comes with it, when you purchase the $3 Knitting Nerd or Knitting Girl decal!
Bad News: Just kidding. I wanted to see if you were paying attention.

Good News: The work day is almost done, which means I’m heading home soon. And there are leftovers in the fridge, which means I don’t have to make dinner tonight. I love nights like that. Fortunately, WH is ok with that, too.
Bad News: I had to have a few Loopy kisses to tide me over in the meantime. I wonder if it’s possible to get a bowl full of fake Loopy kisses?

Good News, Bad News

Good News: Cashmere feels wonderful.  Have you noticed that? I have to pick up the CashSport by The YoYo every time I walk by those shelves. (This is the only yarn base we have in Sportweight with cashmere in it and I am going to be making a pair of socks for myself out of it.  Quick knit and wonderful on your feet.)
Bad News: My “To Knit” list didn’t go down very far last weekend, like I had hoped.  Not very far at all. I can’t even explain that.

Good News: More cashmere arrived today in the form of a new line from The Sanguine Gryphon, called “Bugga!”. 70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon. I took this skein right out of the top of the box for myself. I think I’ve already admitted to a certain addiction to Gryphon’s colors. The Bugga line will go up next week. (In keeping with the bug theme, this one is called “Oak Timberworm”. I have no desire to see what an Oak Timberworm looks like in real life. I’m going to pretend it’s called “Oak Timber” and leave it at that. I don’t like bugs.)
Bad News: Another thing to add to my “To Knit” list. But I’m just going to deal with that.

Good News: Cashmere Roving arrived today, too. A new blend from Tempted, this is made up of 80% superwash merino and 20% cashmere. (It will go up next week, too.)  Also addictively soft.  Also coming home with me.
Bad News: Also addictively soft. Also coming home with me. (Can I help it that that is good AND bad news?)

Good News: Tomorrow is Thursday and College Girl is coming home for Fall Break weekend.  We’re so looking forward to having her home for a few days.
Bad News: College Guy is off on a tour of Canada and the East Coast with four friends. I can’t believe all that they are packing in to this Road Trip. (Note – He considers this Good News. Only his parents consider it Bad News, since we don’t get to see him this weekend.)

Good News: Gracie and Zoe are just happy that someone else will be in the house for the weekend. They miss “their” kids, too.
Bad News: They’ll pout when she goes back to school on Sunday.

Good News: The time is drawing near for Loopy Kisses to go back into Loopy Groupie orders. (See the bowl in the photos? That stays filled year-round here at Loopy Central. Shoppers and Elves are partial to them.)

Bad News: But we can’t add them in to orders yet. It’s still in the 80’s here today, and very humid. :-( Blah.

(P.S. All of the Schaefer “Sock the Vote” invoices have gone out. If you pre-ordered skeins of this yarn, please visit your Loopy account page!)

Good News, Bad News Friday

DSC01682.JPGGood News: Spring has been springing up all week long. The trees are blooming, the daffodils are up, and the weather has been warm.

Bad News: My summertime body has not arrived yet. I keep waiting for it to show up. What is the holdup? It’s a good thing that it is supposed to snow flurry tomorrow. I have the winter body down pat. (I think I’ll eat a cookie.)

Good News: The Spring Fling is only two weeks away – can you believe it? We’re slowly but surely getting ready for all of you.

Bad News: Well, it’s not ALL of you, by any means. But we wish you could all come!

DSC01680.JPGGood News: Took both cats to the vet yesterday and both are healthy. I was sure they’d tell me that Gracie was too fat had her winter body on and needed to exercise more. She’s a mere 10 lbs and in perfect health. (Zoe is a petite 6 lbs, 4 oz – no wonder Gracie seems so big to me.)

Bad News: The vet bill. sigh. (Also bad news: two cat photos in two posts in a row. But she’s awfully darned cute.)

Good News: We did some major re-stocking today – did you catch it? Travel Mugs are back in stock, along with more Shibui Knits (and some of their new patterns), Araucania, Cherry Tree Hill, The Alpaca Yarn Co. Paca Peds, Bee Bars, knitting accessories, new Offhand Designs bags, Namaste Messenger Bags, Cotton Panda, and more.

Bad News: Still more boxes of yarn and things to go up next week. (Or is that good news?)

DSC01685.JPGGood News: Starbucks still has good coffee.

Bad News: They made their cups brown. I miss the green. (Two new yarn lines in the photo, just to make you wonder…. They’re scheduled to arrive in a few weeks.)

Good News: The “Don’t Be Blue” sock kits are ready to ship! Click here if you’re eligible for one.

Bad News: They’re just available (while supplies last) to those who signed up for the sock club this year and didn’t get in. (What happens if you try to buy one and you weren’t really on the list? A hand comes out from your computer screen and pinches you on the nose.)

Good News: So many of you have emailed to tell us how much you like the special Loopy Groupie Appreciation Gift that we have been sending out this week.

Bad News: “LG Appreciation Time” runs through Tax Day and mostly there’s nothing good about Tax Day.

DSC01679.JPGGood News: I found my perfect pair of shoes – they show off handknit socks and they make my size 11 feet look smaller. (No small feet feat.) It’s a Dansko Merrie. (Socks are Fiesta Boomerang. We do have a large order in with the – they’re just backordered on Boomerang at the moment. We’ll keep you posted.)

Bad News: With Spring here, sock-wearing weather is almost gone in Missouri until the fall.

Good News: My friend Monica gave me the DVD August Rush that I like so much. I think I’ll knit and watch it tonight.

Bad News: I have so much knitting that I want to do, that it’s gonna take more than one movie (or five) to knock it out.

Good News: I had time to knit last night.

Bad News: But I didn’t get one stitch done because Knitting Daughter and WH and I spent so much time laughing and going through the pages of photos on this website.

DSC01687.JPGGood News: Possum Sock Yarn from Cherry Tree Hill. (80% Superwash Merino, 20% New Zealand Possum.) Wow.

Bad News: It won’t be available for awhile, but I have one of the sample skeins from Cheryl at Cherry Tree and it’s really a fun yarn base. Just thought I’d give you a sneak peak at a unique new sock yarn base that they will be offering for a limited time this summer.

Good News, Bad News Monday

Good news: Today is my (our) 24th wedding anniversary! Twenty four years of being married to my best friend, 24 years he has had to put up with me, 24 years that he has been making me laugh. :-)

Bad news: I managed to put myself in the doghouse with WH this week, as he has spent untold hours color-correcting 450+ photos for this week’s Sneak Up. That’s what happens when we take a couple of weeks off from Sneaking new stuff up for you. :-(

Good news: Lots of fun things going up sometime this week for your shopping pleasure.

Bad news: Lots of fun things going up sometime this week for your shopping pleasure. (And more next week.)

Good news: I did some knitting this weekend and have the second Noro sock almost done. I’ll post it when it’s done and washed.

DSC01494.JPGBad news: I tired out my knitting fingers with one of my other favorite Christmas presents. (My kids rolled their eyes when I asked for Guitar Heroes for Christmas.) Jari – are you practicing for our eventual re-match??

Good news: We were named “Pusher of the Year” in these awards. How fun is that?

Bad news: The list also contained a lot of fun blogs and resources that I have had to add to my “must read” and “must check out” list. For my spare time.

DSC01497.JPGGood news: I found these cute cupcakes while shopping this weekend. Don’t they look good enough to eat? They’re in my kitchen window, along with some other fun things for the season.

Bad news: Looking at them every day makes me want to eat cupcakes.

DSC01496.JPGGood news: I’ve managed to set aside my spinning momentarily, while I figure out how to make the tension right with a Woolee Winder.

Bad news: We have such fun roving in-house that it’s making me nuts not to be spinning.

Good news: Zoe-the-cat is a mouser! (Don’t ask me how I know.)

Bad news: Gracie-the-cat is not. (Don’t ask me how I know.)

Good news: That was a month ago and she hasn’t had the opportunity to practice her mousing skills again.

Bad news: Casey-the-dog also thinks she’s a mouser. (Well – that was bad news for the mouse in this instance…..)
