Alchemist Sock from Janel Laidman
From the pattern: "The Alchemist used his magic and science to turn one thing into another. Is it lead or is it gold? These socks have and alchemy all their own, from the shading of the yarn to the eye-dazzling tesselations, you're never quite sure what you're looking at, is it dark on light or light on dark?"
Requirements: Yarn: Approx. 400 yards each of two contrasting colors om fingering weight yarn
Needles: US 1 (2.5mm) DPN's or circulars (or size needed to obtain gauge)
Gauge: 8 sts / 11 rows per inch
Sizing Notes: Finished Circumference Measurements (unstretched): Foot 8.0 in., / Ankle 8.0 in. / Mid Calf 11.0 in. / Upper Calf 12.75 in.
Length of foot is measured by trying on sock. This pattern is one size in circumference. To change sizes, increase or decrease needle size and yarn weight to get a different gauge. Because colorwork has little elasticity, unstretched circumferences are larger.
