Cladonia is a semicircular shawl pattern worked in stockinette in one piece from the center top outward to the bottom edge. The delicate lace border is worked with the body and a looped, picot bind-off is used to finish the bottom edge.
The pattern contains both charted and written instructions for the lace border. It is worked in one piece from the top edge, increasing in size to the bottom looped edging.
Finished Measurements: 52” across top edge, 19” from top edge to bottom at center
Yarn: Fingering weight yarn (shown here in Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, 100% Superwash Merino, 420 yards/384m per 100 g skein,) MC: 1 skein (the sample project used 74g) CC: 1 skein (the sample project used 50g)
To make the solid version of the shawl you'll need between 530 & 550 yards of fingering weight yarn.
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) 32” circular needle or size to obtain gauge
Gauge: 4.25 sts & 7.75 rows in stockinette - blocked, always take the time to check gauge
