The unblocked shawl measures 50” across the top and 25” down the center back. Blocked it measures 70” across and 35” down the center back. These measurements are approximate because they depend on how severely you block your piece.
Yarn: 500 yards of light fingering weight yarn.
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) or size needed to obtain gauge (plus, for cast-on only, a needle three sizes larger than the size you use for the shawl). Wendy recommends knitting this shawl back and forth on a circular needle at least 24" long.
Gauge: 5 sts = 1", in stockinette stitch, on smaller needles, unblocked.
