Swans Island Natural Colors Fingering is spun in a historic mill in Maine and then hand-dyed using all-natural dyes. This labor intensive process results in soft, beautiful variegated yarns that are a pleasure to create with and kind to the environment.

Great for wraps, socks, sweaters, baby items, scarves, shawls, hats, mittens and gloves.

*This is an indigo based color. This yarn is dyed with all-natural indigo. Natural indigo has been used by many civilizations for centuries to create stunning blue textiles.

It is the inherent nature of natural indigo dyed yarns to have some "rub off". (Remember your old blue jeans?) Swans Island has done everything possible to minimize this, however you may experience some color rubbing onto your hands or needles. It is not harmful and will wash off.

It is recommended that you use metal needles, as indigo will stain wood or bamboo needles. As for care, it is recommended that you wash your finished garment in cold water with a gentle fiber cleaner such as Soak or Eucalan.
