This pattern is perfect for a beginner knitter who wants to knit lace, with detailed directions. The lace is charted in 4 relatively simple charts that are easy to follow.

Size: unblocked, 40" across top and 20" down center back blocked, 56" across top and 25" down center back

Yarn: approx. 400 yards of fingering weight yarn.

Needle: Size US 6 (4mm). You may also want to use a needle a couple of sizes larger to work the bind-off row.

Gauge: 5 sts = 1" in stockinette stitch, unblocked. Gauge is not terribly important when knitting lace; however, if gauge is dramatically off, it will affect the size of your shawl and amount of yarn you need.
