Working on a New Addition (and a CONTEST!)

As you know, it’s our Seventh Anniversary and we’re celebrating! We did a contest for a wonderful knitting bag from Offhand Designs last week and we drew a name. The bag is going off to Cathy T in Nebraska. Congratulations! I know you will enjoy it!

We’ve sure had fun growing over the past seven years, thanks to all of you and your wonderful orders and business. One of our favorite things is to come in in the morning and see just what we’re sending off to your house that day. You’ve inspired us with lots and lots of projects and ideas, and we have lists full of projects that we want to do, because of you. I know those lists will continue to grow in the years to come. We love sharing knitting/crocheting/weaving/spinning with you, and will continue to add to our fiber-y offerings here at The Loopy Ewe.

DSC02199We’re also looking forward to sharing fabric for sewing and quilting with you this fall!¬†And I have a sneaky suspicion that I will develop a really long list of projects to make with fabric, too. Several of us here at Loopy are quilters and sewists, and I know many of you are multi-craftual and make beautiful things with fabric, too. We’re excited to open the fabric side of The Loopy Ewe in the near future. As you know, we’ve recently added on to our space here, just so we could expand into fabric. We’ve started getting bolts of fabric in, and have so many orders that are scheduled to arrive over the next few months. I have had fun at the last two Quilt Market shows. :-) As soon as we’re ready for fabric orders (hopefully sometime in early September), we will let you know. And of course the Loopy Rewards Program extends to all of those fabric purchases as well. Exciting, right?

Book Giveaway at The Loopy EweWe do have another Anniversary Blog Contest for you today! We are giving away some fun knitting books that I brought back from Market this summer and saved just for you. We will pick two winners and each one will get a set of several books for their knitting library. Would you like to enter to win? Just leave a comment below and tell us what your favorite cake flavor is (in case we get a Happy Loopy Anniversary Cake. Wish we could share a piece with you!) My favorite is white cake with chocolate frosting. How about you?

  1. Love me that Angel Food cake…yes, even a bit dried out! Or carrot cake with cream cheese frosting….or that chocolate cake with pecan/coconut/gooey topping…what is that….German chocolate cake??

  2. Princess cake! Hard to find but delicious. It’s an almond flavored white layer cake with a cream filling and the whole thing is covered with a sheet of marzipan.

  3. Carrot cake with cream cheese icing has been my favorite for a long time…next in line is Hummingbird Cake and Italian Cream…can you tell I like cake?

  4. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, or Sacher Torte (which, now that I think about it, is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting)…

  5. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite since I LOVE all cakes. I have to vote for Boston Creme cake made with strawberries.

  6. Love white cake with chocolate frosting! And chocolate cake with chocolate icing, and carrot cake, and red velvet cake, and zucchini & pineapple cake . . .

  7. Three layer Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Jam in between the layers and then coated with Milk Chocolate Genache. Ahhhh! Yumm!

  8. Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting, chocolate cake with chocolate icing, or red velvet cake with cream chees frosting – I just can’t decide so they are all my favorites!

  9. My favorite cake was featured on the cover of a 1970s Woman’s Day magazine. As a kid whenever I got to pick the cake that was the one I requested and I still make it today!

White cake (mix), Butter Cream frosting (as on the box of confectioner’s sugar) decorated with maraschino cherries and canned pineapple slices.

  10. My favorite flavor of cake is definitely German Chocolate!

Thanks for virtually sharing your (?virtual) Anniversary Cake, and Happy Anniversary again!

  11. Favorite Flavor: Kitchen Sink Cake!!! This is a gorgeous moist cake with just about everything in it that you would keep in your baking cupboard. Raisins, nuts, spices, fresh eggs, any dried fruits you want. MUCH moister than a Christmas Cake, and can be baked in to little muffin cups for lunch box servings:)

You can find a copy of the recipe here at: http://homecooking.about.com/od/cakerecipes/r/blc141.htm

  12. I absolutely adore Boiled Chocolate Cake! With Dark Chocolate Icing! It is like a rich Devils Food Cake, but even moister, because instead of creaming the butter and sugar, the ingredients are melted and brought to the boil before adding the dry ingredients. If anyone wants the recipe, email me at

    kripsy@netspace.net.au

and when I get back to Oz from our USA trip I will be happy to send the recipe! It is Great!!!

  13. I think I have to say pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. Love it anytime of the year, even if it tastes like Fall!

  14. My favorite cake is German chocolate. But you can’t decorate it very easily. For a decorated cake, my preference is white cake, white frosting with a little colored added embellishments. I steer away from colored frostings because of how it dyes one’s teeth, mouth and tongur!

  15. So my favorite cake is a moist rich chocolate cake with a raspberry filling and milk chocolate frosting. Yum yum!

  16. Chocolate Coca Cola Cake, without a doubt. The icing and the cake go perfectly together and it is the most moist chocolate cake ever!

  17. I have an old fashioned chocolate cake recipe that is amazing! Not too sweet, until you add the frosting at least. Use special dark cocoa and its black and even more rich.

  18. Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting is by far my favorite and also my husbands. Second in running would be Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

  19. So many people love carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and so do I!! A close second for me is chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting…. very yummy!
